questions for recruiters

Questions for Recruiters

There are hundreds of healthcare staffing firms across the country and each operate differently. How do you choose the best company for you? It’s important to come up with a list of your top priorities to ask your recruiter. If you are new to traveling you may not even know the right questions for recruiters! After all, you don’t know what you don’t know. Here are some questions to help you narrow your search.

What benefits are offered?

Most companies offer benefits in addition to their weekly pay packages. Make a list of the benefits that are important to you. Some examples include PTO, holiday pay, 401K plans, and insurance, just to name a few.

What is guaranteed?

Leaving your full-time position can be intimidating, so don’t be afraid to ask what is or isn’t guaranteed on assignment! These may include full-time hours, overtime, call, etc.

How often will I be in touch with my recruiter?

This is a great conversation to have with your recruiter as this varies on your preferences! Some travelers prefer to touch base with their recruiters once a week, while others prefer a bit more follow up! Additionally, you may consider asking if there is a 24-hour hotline to call should an emergency arise while on your contract assignment.

What is reimbursed?

Again, this varies greatly from agency to agency! Some agencies offer license, certification, and travel reimbursements. Aureus Medical offers tuition reimbursement as well!

Any additional services?

Housing is another service that may or may not be offered with your company. Some companies will set you up with your own, private, and fully furnished housing on contract. While this can be a huge sigh of relief to some, others prefer to find housing on your own.

  1. Hi, I’ve heard your company is one of the best. I am interested in a travel assignment about September next year. I just wanted to touch base. I’m really excited. Thank you! (I’ve been a RN for 33 years and want to travel before I retire).

  2. I am a nurse with current licensure in Massachusetts for 37 years. I will be travelling to Tampa, Florida for 6-7 months and I’m looking for a part time position there for the winter.

I have applied and received a Florida license already. I wonder if I would be a good fit for your company to place?

    Thank you,
    Sue Taylor, RN
