Will travel nursing or travel therapy jobs be a great fit for me?

As it requires adapting to a new environment in a short period of time, flexibility is vital. Being a team player, maintaining a positive attitude, and being able to acclimate well to a variety of settings are also important to successful healthcare careers “on the road”.

What do I need to do to start working with a healthcare staffing agency such as Aureus Medical?

Then we’ll begin identifying exciting positions in your field of healthcare, whether you’re interested in a full-time job or a travel position (travel nursing, travel therapy, etc.).

What obligation am I under after I submit an application?

What is the average length of travel nursing or travel therapy assignments?
Depending on your modality/specialty, the length may vary from one month to a year, but a typical travel assignment is 13 to 26 weeks. I’m interested in travel nursing or travel therapy jobs. How can I be sure that there will always be assignments available?
Flexibility is very important. While we have an abundance of travel jobs available across the country and we do our very best to connect you with the location of your choice, it’s possible that an assignment may not be available in the destination at that particular time. We work with major hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide so we do have a large pool of positions available. That, combined with more than 30 years of healthcare staffing experience, means we’re able to locate specific opportunities that smaller firms do not have the resources to identify. So, tell us where you want to go and we’ll go to work to help you get there. We specialize in travel nursing, travel therapy, as well as travel for other areas of allied health.

How quickly can you locate an assignment for me?
Due to our vast network of hospitals we work with, we’ve identified opportunities in as little as a day. Realistically, it depends on the geographic area you are requesting and the demand for your specialty (travel nursing, travel therapy, advanced practice, etc.). On average, it takes us from one to four weeks from your initial contact with us until you actually begin an assignment. Some of our employees even reserve positions as much as 5-6 months in advance.

What happens when my assignment is completed?
Our priority is to keep you working as often as you would like. During your current assignment it’s important to work with your account manager and determine if you'd like to extend your stay, choose a new assignment from our nationwide network, or take some time off. The choice is yours!

Is there a fee for Aureus Medical's healthcare staffing services?
Our candidates never pay a fee for our medical staffing services. Our fees are covered by our clients who partner with us to locate high quality healthcare professionals for their hospitals and medical facilities. Your healthcare career with Aureus Medical is just around the corner. Complete an online application to get started!

What type of housing will be provided to me while on my travel assignment?
Aureus Medical’s corporate housing division, AurHomes, is experienced in securing and arranging housing in locations nationwide. Your housing coordinator, along with your account manager, will work together to provide you with high quality, private housing (shared housing may be required in some instances) during your travel assignment. Typically, your accommodations will be a one-bedroom apartment or "extended stay" corporate housing located in an area convenient to the facility. Aureus Medical covers the cost of your rent. Many of the housing providers we use nationwide have amenities such as health clubs, tennis courts, swimming pools, and hot tubs. In some cases, you may select your own housing using our attractive housing allowance.

Can I travel with a friend, relative, or pet?
Of course! A healthcare career in travel nursing, travel therapy, or other field of specialty can be even more rewarding when you have your spouse or a close friend with you to enjoy the experience. And, having your pet along with you can make it feel even more like "home." However, you will be responsible for any pet deposits required by the housing complex, as well as any difference in housing arrangements (upgrades to a 2 bedroom, etc). You will also be responsible for any travel related expenses for your traveling companion. Contact your account manager if you have any special requests.

What healthcare careers does Aureus Medical specialize in? Do you accept referrals?

I will finish my residency next year. When should I begin my search?
Although many of our clients have immediate needs, forming a relationship with your physician services consultant now will expedite the process when the time comes to make contact with potential employers. Use this time to allow your physician services consultant to get to know you and gain an understanding of your unique needs (practice type, desired locations, amenities, etc.).
Many physicians also sign contracts early in their residencies. A potential employer may consider offering you a stipend or pay for a portion of a fellowship. Beginning your search now for physician jobs may open the door to these opportunities.

In what areas of the country do you focus?

I am looking to relocate. How may I best involve my family in the search process?
Aureus Medical understands and respects the important role that a family may play in the decision making process.  We encourage our candidates to bring their family members with them on an onsite interview to learn about the community, its culture, school systems, religious organizations, arts, and recreational offerings. For direct hire physician jobs, the healthcare organization will typically work with your physician services consultant in coordinating tours and visits. Your physician services consultant will also speak with your spouse to determine his or her individual needs or concerns.

Who covers the travel costs for my interviews and do I make my own arrangements?
Your first interview is typically a telephone or live virtual interview. If an onsite visit is required, Aureus Medical will handle the arrangements and the cost will be paid for by the facility. Aureus Medical will handle all logistical arrangements with regards to your onsite interview (or live virtual interview), including scheduling, transportation, and hotel accommodations. The cost associated with your visit is paid for by the potential employer. Your account manager physician services consultant will work closely with you and the healthcare organization to fulfill special requests, such as a tour of the community and visits to schools, religious organizations, and local attractions. It’s important to us that you receive as much information as possible about both the facility and the community when making a decision about your career.
