  • What is travel nursing or travel therapy?

You’re a skilled nurse, but want to travel the country, build your resume, experience a variety of healthcare settings, and/or make new friends. A travel nursing career may be the perfect option for you! As a travel nurse, you have the freedom to choose where you want to work and your schedule while being taken care of every step of the way by a dedicated recruiter. Travel nursing assignments with hospitals are generally 13 weeks in length. Once you complete an assignment, travel to your next one or take a break in between. Aureus Medical offers great benefits, 401K, tuition reimbursement, and more. Housing is also an option as part of your package. Aureus has been a leader in healthcare staffing for more than 35 years. We offer exciting and rewarding travel nursing jobs in all 50 states. Aureus also offers travel therapy jobs, and opportunities in other allied health fields.

  • Will travel nursing or travel therapy jobs be a great fit for me?

There are many qualities those in healthcare careers share that make them successful in travel therapy, travel nursing, or other areas of travel healthcare. As it requires adapting to a new environment in a short period of time, flexibility is vital. Being a team player, maintaining a positive attitude, and being able to acclimate well to a variety of settings are also important to successful healthcare careers “on the road”.

  • What do I need to do to start working with a healthcare staffing agency such as Aureus Medical?

It’s simple. Healthcare careers with Aureus Medical begin with completing our Quick Apply online application. A recruiter will contact you once this is complete and talk with you about the goals you have for your career. At that time, you will need to complete a skills checklist as well as provide an updated resume and current references. Then we’ll begin identifying exciting positions in your field of healthcare, whether you’re interested in a full-time job or a travel position (travel nursing, travel therapy, etc.).

  • What obligation am I under after I submit an application?

You are under no obligation to Aureus Medical after you submit your online application. Once we have found a travel or locum tenens assignment for you and you sign a contract, then you will become an Aureus Medical employee for the duration of that assignment.

  • What is the average length of travel nursing or travel therapy assignments?

Depending on your modality/specialty, the length may vary from one month to a year, but a typical travel assignment is 13 to 26 weeks. Oftentimes, there are opportunities to extend your contract past the initial assignment timeframe. Contact your recruiter if you are interested in extending your current assignment or even staying on full-time. We have great opportunities available nationwide in travel nursing, travel therapy, as well as travel positions in the fields of medical laboratory, imaging, oncology, cardiopulmonary, neurodiagnostics, and more. Aureus also offers locum tenens opportunities for physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

  • How can I be sure that there will always be assignments available?

Flexibility is very important. While we have an abundance of travel jobs available across the country and we do our very best to connect you with the location of your choice, it’s possible that an assignment may not be available in the destination at that particular time. We work with major hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide so we do have a large pool of positions available. That, combined with more than 35 years of healthcare staffing experience, means we’re able to locate specific opportunities that smaller firms do not have the resources to identify. So, tell us where you want to go and we’ll go to work to help you get there. We specialize in travel nursing, travel therapy, as well as travel for other areas of allied health.

  • How quickly can you locate an assignment for me?

Due to our vast network of hospitals we work with, we’ve identified opportunities in as little as a day. Realistically, it depends on the geographic area you are requesting and the demand for your specialty (travel nursing, travel therapy, advanced practice, etc.). On average, it takes us from one to four weeks from your initial contact with us until you actually begin an assignment. Some of our employees even reserve positions as much as 5-6 months in advance.

  • What happens when my assignment is completed?

Our priority is to keep you working as often as you would like. During your current assignment it’s important to work with your recruiter and determine if you'd like to extend your stay, choose a new assignment from our nationwide network, or take some time off. The choice is yours!

Many of the housing providers we use nationwide have amenities such as health clubs, tennis courts, swimming pools, and hot tubs. In some cases, you may select your own housing using our attractive housing allowance.

  • Can I travel with a friend, relative, or pet?

Of course! A healthcare career in travel nursing, travel therapy, or other field of specialty can be even more rewarding when you have your spouse or a close friend with you to enjoy the experience. And, having your pet along with you can make it feel even more like "home." However, you will be responsible for any pet deposits required by the housing complex, as well as any difference in housing arrangements (upgrades to a 2 bedroom, etc).
