New website to serve as guide for aspiring physical therapists

A valuable resource is available for students who are interested in pursuing careers as a physical therapist, according to a press release.

The site, physicaltherapyprereqs.com, serves to provide guidance to students as they advance through academic studies en route to holding a physical therapy job. It has a list of schools offering physical therapy programs and includes suggestions as to what undergraduates should study. It also advises candidates on the best ways of strengthening their applications.

"The site works as a handbook to becoming a physical therapist from high school right through to professional practice," Todd Maxted with the website said. "It's great because it doesn't matter where you are in the process, the site has relevant information to help you progress to the next step in your studies."

The site includes an outlook section that supplies information about salaries that physical therapists earn, the type of work that they do and how in-demand the profession is.

The industry is set to continue developing and U.S. News & World Report cited it as No. 8 on its list of the "Best Jobs of 2012," according to the press release.
