California facility offers physical and occupational therapy

Seniors are living large at a healthcare center in a Central California city that features occupational and physical therapy services, according to The Monterey Herald.

The Monterey Peninsula Wisdom Adult Day Health Care Center also has a nurses' station and services for psychological counseling.

"As seniors, we need to be around people. That's a fact," Salinas senior Hope Garcia told the publication, noting she spends several days a week at the Center. "When you live alone, you go sooner. We want to stay longer."

Garcia said she has visited other locales for seniors but she's sure she found the best one. She noted the activities are enjoyable, always occurring and there is a wide selection. And she had praise for the staff. Activities include dance and music therapy, as well as arts and crafts.

Full-time staff totals 30, which include people holding physical therapy jobs and occupational therapy jobs.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates career opportunities for physical therapists are projected to develop more rapidly than average.
