Assignments, whatever length they may be, go by faster than you think. Before you know it, the assignment is over and you may not have been able to see all that the area has to offer. Spirit of Volunteering
When starting a new assignment, you may not be very familiar with the area. A great way to learn your way around your adopted community and meet some people is to volunteer! According to the Corporation for National & Community Service, about 68.1 million Americans volunteered through some type of organization in 2008. Most non-profit organizations rely heavily on volunteers.
