What’s Your Why? Three Tips to Aid in Your Travel Job Search

As someone who has been in the nurse recruiting industry for more than 12 years, one of the most gratifying parts of my career is finding that perfect job for someone. The only way to truly do that is to find out your WHY. Why are you traveling? Is it to see the nation or make some extra cash? Is it to visit family or get some extra experience and expand your skills?

Here are three tips to help us help you, all by finding your WHY:

1) Create a relationship with your account manager/recruiter built on trust. Have open and honest conversations and be 100% up front and honest regarding what you are looking for and why you are looking for a contract or direct hire position.

2) Communicate your A, B, C, and D job preferences and locations. Know that you may take your C option first, then A, D, and B. By communicating your WHY, it will help recruiters and account managers know your location flexibility and if you will consider other options at any given time.

3) Have an open mind. Unless you are an experienced nationwide traveler, you may not know that Arizona has mountains to go snow skiing, hiking, or biking. There are several states that have great mountain life outside of the typical Colorado or Alaska requests. Also, did you know that there are seasonality and multiple jobs in more southern states than Florida, Arizona, and Texas? Many states are great getaway locations for the winter months. Lastly, if you’ve never spent a summer in Wisconsin or Michigan, let me tell you that it’s outstanding! Have you thought of that for a summer vacation?

As always, thank you for your partnership with Aureus. Good luck on your next job search!
