Nursing school, career runs in Wisconsin family

A Northwest Wisconsin student is drawing inspiration from her family by pursuing a nursing job, according to a published report.

Abby, a sister of Haylee Sommer, 22, of Chippewa Valley Technical College in River Falls completed the same program in 2007, the River Falls Journal reports. The women's mother, who homeschooled all of her children in the city of Hudson, fulfilled the program's requirements two years earlier.

"Mom's and Abby's experience at CVTC probably influenced where I was going to go to nursing school more than if I was going to nursing school," Haylee told the news source, noting her pleasure with the program while roughly halfway through her first semester. "I think the faculty here are really helpful and they're really fair."

Haylee said her mom and sister tell her about their professional experience as nurses, which helps sheds light on the prospects of the medical career ahead of her. She is aiming to serve as an obstetrics nurse and her sister and mom have told her she should be well prepared by the academic pursuits.

The tasks and charges of registered nurses greatly vary and typically are determined by where they work and the patient population they serve, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
