North Carolina’s top nurses to be honored

One-hundred of North Carolina’s finest nurses are preparing to sit down and enjoy the annual gala dinner that recognizes the fantastic work they do in their nursing jobs.

The Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina celebration is scheduled for October 22 at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. The grassroots organization advocates for the caregivers and promotes excellence in nursing while also endowing scholarships for the education of nurses in the Tar Heel State.

“We depend on your nominations to identify deserving nurses who are making a difference in their community and professional setting through their commitment to Nursing Excellence,” the organization’s website states.

The group and dinner pay tribute to the nurses and the important roles they fulfill in the array of medical settings where they practice. The nurses also are credited with putting the profession’s best face forward.

Started in 1988 by a registered nurse who sought to devise an organization that recognizes the caregivers’ work, The Great 100 promotes nursing and has bestowed roughly $140,000 in scholarship money during the past 12 years. Funding for the scholarships is raised by an auction.
