The “After”

I’ve written a couple blogs on becoming a traveler and continuing to be a traveler but I think we should talk about “the after”. The average length that people spend in a travel healthcare career is 1.5 years. This means that after about 4-6 assignments people go full-time somewhere. Now the “somewhere” depends on a lot of factors including your experience, your registries, and where the jobs just happen to be at the time you are looking.

The Panic

A few months back I wrote an article for Aureus Medical’s blog titled “Leap of Faith.” This article is somewhat a follow up from that article. In that article, I discussed how and when to make that leap and give travel assignments a try. In this article, I’m going to talk about what happens once you get your first travel assignment.

Leap of Faith

Part of my job is to speak with potential candidates, who, for a variety of reasons, may be interested in looking at traveling. Inevitably, the conversation comes down to how and when do I make the jump to being a traveler? I have had a couple amazing opportunities in the last month to hear some outstanding speakers relating to heroes. The first event was at the Wellness Council of America Awards Luncheon in April. The guest speaker was Battalion Commander Richard Picciotto, the highest-ranking officer in the Twin Towers when they collapsed on 9/11.

Is there anything that you can do to help your odds of getting another contract quickly? The answer is YES!

A New You for A New Year – Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

Did you know that the tradition of the New Year’s Resolutions goes all the way back to 153 B.C? Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar. With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.
