Training program reviewing applications for physical therapists in neurology

People who hold physical therapy jobs in a Kentucky city have an opportunity to partake in a training program that aims to enhance their neurological capacities, according to a published report.

The NeuroRecovery Training Institute is the brainchild of a small group of partners in Louisville, The Business Journal reports. The partnership includes the efforts of NeuroRecovery Ed, Evidence In Motion and former chief financial officer and vice president Phoebe Wood with Brown-Forman Corp.

"The vision of the NeuroRecovery Training Institute is to advance the outcomes of patients living with neurological injuries related to spinal cord dysfunction and acquired brain injury," states co-founder Andrea Behrman with NeuroRTI  in a news release. "Our world-class faculty are experts in cutting-edge neurologic techniques and have designed innovative instructional strategies and curriculum to develop the next generation of highly skilled neurologic physical therapists."

The institute has been reviewing applications for the first training for transitional physical therapy since earlier this month.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, physical therapists help patients recover from illness and surgery by helping them manage pain and enhance range of motion.
