Medical career opportunities open as demand from aging Baby Boomers increases

Increasing healthcare needs of members of the Baby Boomer generation are prompting the development of healthcare and medical careers, according to a published report.

Nearly nine of 10 of jobs available at Central Florida Health Alliance job openings are germane to healthcare, such as registered nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists and pharmacy technicians, USA Today reports. The medical center has as many as 170 job openings per week.

Many of the people who seek medical assistance are part-time residents of Florida who are escaping the winter at other locales so the facility is hiring for the peak season, which runs from January to April.

"It's kind of a domino effect," human resources director Holly Kolozsvary with the medical center told the news source. "They move here, they're well, they get sick, they're left here through their cancer or heart disease, and we have to take care of them."

Additional healthcare jobs include dietitians, nutritionists, aides for home health and personal care, and laboratory technologists and technicians, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
