Costume ideas for a physical therapist

With Halloween just a couple of weeks away, you may be panicking about what to wear. There are parties to attend, kids to supervise and maybe even a workplace dress-up day to participate in. Even physical therapists deserve to have a little bit of fun during this spooky season!

However, between attending to your clients and handling personal responsibilities, you may have fallen off the bandwagon concerning a costume idea. Don’t worry – there are plenty of costumes you can pull off with ingenuity, a sense of humor and a bit of fun.

Here are four costume ideas any physical therapist may love to dress up as:

1. Pirate. Whether you are intrigued by the idea of dressing up as Captain Jack Sparrow from the Disney movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" or want to go as a more generic interpretation, you can have a lot of fun. Wear your pirate hat with pride as you swagger with your swashbuckler style around a party.

2. Ghost. Create a ghoul costume to spook all of your friends. You can get a bit more creative than Charlie Brown with this outfit. Try to cut up various wisps of fabric to hang from a gown for an ethereal appearance. If you're going for a more historic vibe, try to dress up in a period costume and powder your face, skin and hair in white. The color will wash you out and give you that ghostly appearance.

3. Puss in Boots. Try this fairy tale character on for size this Halloween by wearing your favorite pair of knee-high leather boots. Combine the boots with a pair of black tights or skinny jeans, a white peasant shirt and a fanciful period hat. The final touches on the look will include a cat tail and ears. Try drawing the whiskers and nose on with black eyeliner to keep the look comfortable. A cat mask may hinder your socializing ability.

4. Farmer. Try on a different career for Halloween by dressing up as a farmer. Wear overalls with a checkered shirt underneath and work boots. Consider the merits of wearing a trucker hat or a straw creation – both hats are fun and can give off the right impression. For a final touch, bring a prop with you like a plastic ear of corn so that other people can identify what kind of farmer you are.
