One of the best parts of summer is without a doubt the Fourth of July. It's a day to honor the brave men and women who have served our country and celebrate your patriotism with friends and family. As a travel nurse, you have the opportunity to enjoy this great holiday in a new and exciting place by requesting to go somewhere where the Independence Day celebrations are the best and brightest.

Although you may not be at home, you can still spend the day with your loved ones. Ask a friend or family member to visit for a long weekend, and get ready to join one of the most speculator July 4th events in the country. Just take a look at what some of these cities have to offer!

South Bay, California – Located less than 30 miles from Los Angeles, the area referred to as South Bay in Southern California is known for its great Independence Day events. The area is made up of the small coastal cities in the area, including Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach and El Segundo. Favorite events include the traditional fireworks show at the Redondo Beach Pier and the 5K Run/Walk at the Riviera Village in Redondo. For live music and dancing well into the night, head over the Hermosa Beach to show off your Fourth of July spirit!

Boston, Massachusetts – What better place to spend Independence Day than the site of the Boston Tea Party? Consider spending your travel nursing assignment in this beautiful city and discover the rich history of the American Revolution by going to the Independence Day Service at Old North Church or attending a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Old State House. For fun Fourth of July festivities, go to Boston Harborfest, an annual celebration that takes place in and around City Hall. 

Washington, D.C. – Spend your Fourth of July in the nation's capital this year. The events in the city are seemingly endless, including the annual concert at the National Air and Space Museum, the National Independence Day Parade, performances by the National Symphony Orchestra, fireworks over the Washington Monument and much more. If you're lucky enough to know someone who works at the White House, you might even be able to get in to watch the Marine Band play on the South Lawn!
