Are You Ready for Your Fall and Winter Assignment?

Preparing for your upcoming fall and winter assignments can be challenging. Your brain is filled to the brim with important details regarding your assignment and with so much on your mind, how do you know you’ve got all your bases covered? We’ve got a few tips for you that will help make your transition easier.

Make sure that your car is ready for travel in any weather condition. Your next adventure may be to an area that has a major swing in weather! Be prepared with an emergency weather kit in your vehicle. Have a first aid kit, blankets, a flashlight, shovel, salt or kitty litter (for the snow, for those of you who don’t know!), and a car charger for your cell phone. Rescue teams often ping off a cell to locate lost or injured people. It would also be helpful to have windshield wiper fluid. Make sure it’s de-icing!

Pack appropriate clothing and gear so you are prepared to face the winter cold, including a heavy coat, rain coat, boots, gloves, etc. Be sure to research the weather patterns of your destination so you can pack accordingly.

Get your flu shot! Keep your receipt and proof of the vaccination (or any immunizations for that matter). Although not mandatory, flu shots are becoming standard practice for a lot of facilities and a requirement to some.

Lastly, make sure that you plan your route accordingly. There are several road trip planners available online to assist you. You could run in to unexpected weather situations and it’s always a good idea to be prepared. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to your destination safely!
