What makes a great traveler?
There are many qualities that make for a great traveler. Flexibility is vital,
as you will have to adapt to a new environment in a short amount of time. Being
a team player, maintaining a positive attitude, and having a variety of
experience are also important.
What do I need to do to start working with Aureus Medical?
First, you will need to complete our
on-line application. A recruiter will contact you once this is complete. At
that time, you will need to complete a skills checklist as well as provide an
updated resume and current references.
What obligation am I under after I submit an application?
You are under no obligation to Aureus Medical after you submit your application.
Once we have found an assignment for you and you sign a contract, then you will
become an Aureus Medical employee for the duration of that assignment.
What is the average length of travel assignments?
Depending on the modality, the length may vary from one month to a year, but our
typical travel assignment is 13-26 weeks. With some positions, an extension may
be available. Contact your Account Manager if you are interested in extending
your current assignment.
How can I be sure that there will always be assignments
available?
Flexibility is key! We'll try our best to get you where you want to go. However,
an assignment may not be available at that particular time in the location you
desire. There is a large pool of open jobs throughout the rest of the country,
though. We work with the nation's major hospitals and healthcare providers and
have the contact and experience to locate specific jobs that smaller firms just
don't have the resources to find.
How quickly can you locate a position for me?
We've done it in as little as a day. But more realistically, it depends on the
geographic area you are requesting and the demand for your specialty. On
average, it takes us from one to four weeks from your initial contact with us
until you actually begin a job assignment. Some of our employees even reserve
positions as much as 5-6 months in advance.
What happens when my assignment is completed?
Our priority is to keep you working. During your current assignment, it is
important to work with your Account Manager to decide if you'd like to extend
your stay, choose a new assignment elsewhere, or take some time off. The choice
is yours!
Is there a fee for Aureus Medical's services?
Candidates never pay a fee for our services.
What type of housing will be provided to me?
A Housing Coordinator from AurHomes, Aureus Medical's corporate housing
division, and your Account Manager will work with you to provide high quality,
private housing (shared housing may be required in some instances). Typically,
you will have a one-bedroom apartment or "extended stay" corporate housing
located in an area convenient to your assignment. Your rent is provided with the
assignment. Many of the housing providers we use have amenities such as health
clubs, tennis courts, swimming pools and hot tubs. Everything is normally
furnished, down to your towels and pots and pans.
Or, if you'd prefer, you can select your own housing using our attractive
housing allowance.
Can I travel with a friend, relative, or pet?
Of course! Traveling with another healthcare professional, spouse, or any close
friend will allow you to share the experience of a lifetime, and having your pet
along with you will make it feel more like "home." However, you will be
responsible for any pet deposits required by the housing complex, as well as any
difference in housing arrangements (upgrades to a 2-bedroom, etc). You will also
be responsible for any travel related expenses for your traveling companion.
Contact your Account Manager if you have any special requests.
What if I have a problem with my job or housing while I am on
an assignment?
Help is just a phone call away. We provide customer service 24 hours a day, 7
days a week!
What benefits will I receive while working with Aureus Medical?
We offer a generous health/dental/life insurance plan. You are eligible for our
401(k) program with matching employer contributions, as well as our Section 125
Plan. We also provide Professional Liability Coverage (malpractice). We offer
one of the most generous benefit packages in the industry. Contact us for
specific details!
What about licensing and continuing education?
Aureus Medical reimburses you for the cost of obtaining new credentials and
licensure. We also have a special Continuing Education Reimbursement plan. Once
you have completed 540 hours of service, you are eligible to receive $300 per
year for continuing education. All you need to do is submit your signed receipt
and a copy of your completion certificate to your Account Manager
When and how am I paid?
You are paid weekly. Aureus Medical offers Direct Electronic Deposit to the bank
of your choice.
Are taxes taken out of my check?
Yes. As you are an employee of Aureus Medical, we handle your withholding taxes
and will send you a W2 at the end of the year.
Am I eligible for vacation benefits?
Yes. After having worked 2,080 hours, you are eligible for 40 hours of vacation.
