What Recruiters Want to Know

When starting your job search, it can be a bit overwhelming thinking of all the possible employers you might apply to. One way to simplify the process is to connect with a staffing agency and recruiter first. When working with a recruitment company like Aureus, they’ll be able to do a lot of the heavy lifting for you and get your name out to as many hiring companies as you want. Since this is your job search, recruiters also want to make sure they are well-informed on what exactly you’re looking for in a position. Here are a few of the questions recruiters will want answered. This helps make sure they know your priorities.

Travel vs. Permanent?

One of the first questions you will get when talking with a recruiter is about the kind of position you are looking for. Do you want to take a 13-week travel assignment to see a new part of the country? Or are you looking to put down roots and settle into a long-term opportunity, either locally or by relocating? Whatever your preference is, Aureus recruiters are able to assist and advise you on the job markets for both.

Location?

After figuring out what type of position you are pursuing, the next question will be where. If you’re looking for something permanent because you just bought a house, we want to know how far from there you will be willing to commute for a job. Or if you’re relocating but not sure where yet, we’ll want to know the cities you’re considering so we can fill you in on the possibilities available. The same goes for travel positions in that sense. Although we see travel assignments in all 50 states, not everyone is open to going anywhere. If you really want to spend a few months hiking in the Pacific Northwest or near a beach on the coast, let us know! Or if you want to stay close to home for your first assignment and then expand from there, we want to know that, too.

Work Settings?

Are you passionate about working in an outpatient or inpatient setting? Do you love working with older populations in a skilled nursing facility? Or are you not quite sure and want to keep your options open? Whatever the case, we see positions in all medical settings. We can shape your job search and what jobs we pitch you based on what setting(s) you are most comfortable in. The great part about travel therapy is with it usually being 13-week contracts, it’s a great way to expand your resume and pick up new skills with different assignments.

Pay?

With any job, making money is always going to be a factor. Every position we have at Aureus will pay differently depending on a number of variables. The variables include location, setting, your work experience, etc. Let us know if you have a certain pay range that you’re looking for and we can pitch you jobs that line up with your expectations.

Start Date?

We see jobs open and close daily, so one of the most important things for us to know is when you want to start your next position. Are you looking to start working ASAP? Or do you know you’ll be looking to make a change in a few months? Whatever the case, we want to know your timeline so we can best advise you on the markets at that time.

Whatever your answers are to these questions, remember that this is YOUR job search. We may have jobs that we feel are perfect for you, but this is still about what you want in your next position. Keeping an open mind to new possibilities is important because there will be more opportunities for you that way, but the decision to what jobs you apply for is still yours.
