Why Northern California is the best region of the state

There seems to be a heated rivalry between Northern and Southern California. People are debating, what region of California is better? Although both zones of California have a lot to offer, I would argue that Northern California is the place to be.

Northern California is brimming with an abundant supply of nature’s creatures. From Elephant Seals to Brown Pelicans to Sea Otters, the Northern California coastline is filled with fascinating wildlife. Northern California’s coastline has both innocent, endearing animals and fierce predators. Monterey Bay is a great place to visit as fish, dolphins, and even whales can be spotted.   If you are feeling adventurous, head to Elkhorn Slough and spot sharks as they come in to feed.

If the water isn’t your favorite element of nature, take a trip to Redwood National and State Parks to see the tallest trees in the world.   Nature walks, fishing, and campfire programs are just a few of the things offered at the Redwood Forest. While exploring the forest you might even see Roosevelt Elk. Whether you want to ride your bike or ride a horse through the national park, Redwood can offer unique entertainment. If immersing yourself in nature seems captivating, consider camping. If you like to explore during the day, but prefer a bed to sleep in, maybe booking accommodations in a nearby community is the best plan. Either way, Redwood National and State Parks are a must see destination when staying in Northern California.

There are a variety of magnificent beaches in Northern California. The people of Northern California are known for being down to earth, so much so that dogs are allowed at many beaches. Grab a surf board and attempt something new at Carmel Beach, or just unwind with sand between your toes, a glass of wine in your hand, and a beautiful view. If seeing the Golden Gate Bridge is on your California bucket list, visit Baker beach for the perfect view of the bridge. Want to combine exercise and beautiful sight seeing? Try hiking Marin Headlands. If you want to explore a little farther north of San Francisco, visit Marin County. Reinvent your daring side by hang gliding or kayaking!

From San Francisco to Sacramento and San Jose to Fresno, you can shop until you drop in Northern California. Once you visit Northern California, you might stay forever, but at the very least you will leave with an updated wardrobe. Northern California also encompasses wine country. There are around 400 wineries in Napa Valley alone. So whether you’re looking for a good looking outfit or a good glass of wine, Northern California has you covered.

Northern California can please people from all different walks of life. If you want to lie on the beach and drink wine, you’ll fit in perfectly. If you want to go hang gliding and hike to see the best views, California is for you too. So what are you waiting for? You have animals to see, trails to hike, beaches to appreciate, and wine to taste. Northern California is just a placement away.
