Here’s a piece of travel nursing advice that shouldn’t be too hard to swallow. The old saying of drinking eight glasses of water a day no longer holds true. Basically, it was a catchall suggestion and the truth is, the recommended amount varies from person to person.

To calculate the actual amount of water you should drink, take how much you weigh and divide that number by two. That’s how many ounces of water you should consume.

To adjust into cups, divide by eight. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, it is recommended that you drink 80 ounces a day, meaning 10 cups. This will help you stay hydrated, as well as fight off both headaches and fatigue on the shift.
