You’ve probably heard that travel nurses and travel allied healthcare professionals make great money, but that’s not the only reason to hop on this incredible career bandwagon.
Here are 5 reasons to try travel nursing (other than pay):
Choose where you get to work
One of the biggest perks of becoming a travel nurse is traveling, of course! It’s important to pick a travel location that interests you — whether that’s in the mountains or on the coast. You get to visit parts of the country that you’ve never been to before and sometimes even get the chance to work close to distant family members. Wherever travel takes you just know that the more flexible you are with location, the more opportunities will be presented to you.
Flexible schedule
A standard travel assignment can last between 8-13 weeks. With a flexible schedule, you can choose if you’d like to work day or night shifts and when you’d like to start each travel assignment. You also have the freedom to take unlimited time off between each assignment. Could you imagine taking an assignment in Honolulu, followed by three months in the mountains of Colorado, then three months in Key West? This could most definitely be a reality for you as a travel nurse!
You’ll meet LOTS of new people
It’s true! As you go from facility to facility and town to town, you have the opportunity to connect with all kinds of people from around the country and even from around the world. You’ll be able to build your network and make some lifelong connections along your journey.
Travel healthcare is great for career advancement
No matter how many years of experience you may have as a nurse, there’s always room to grow and learn! As a travel nurse, you will encounter a variety of different people and situations that you might not have experienced by staying at one hospital as a staff nurse. Being in a new environment will require you to adapt and be flexible — plus, it looks great on a resume. All the skills and experience you gain from traveling could eventually lead to career advancement in the future.
Travel to relocate
