Typically, California is one of the hottest spots for travel therapy opportunities in the country.  It is also a hot spot for one of the best holiday light displays in the country. ‘WildLights’ is filled with more than 1 million lights that turn a zoo into a winter wonderland. While enjoying this incredible light display, you can experience the holidays with trains, animals, food, and carousels throughout the Palm Desert. If you have the opportunity to experience this wonderland first hand, it is a must-see.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is not the only zoo that explodes into holiday cheer during the month of December. The Smithsonian’s National Zoo joins in on the fun as well. Located in the nation’s capital, ‘ZooLights’ is an experience of the lifetime. As the property fills with over half a million environmentally friendly LED lights, the holidays are on full blast to all looking to experience some holiday cheer. Visitors of all ages are welcome to enjoy the views and the light-up animals as well.

River of Lights at ABQ BioPark Botanical Garden – Albuquerque, NM

Located in New Mexico, ‘River of Lights’ is a unique experience for those looking to enjoy lights in all elements. This underwater ecosystem comes to life every December to display one of the greatest displays of holiday lights in the United States. This is the opportunity to experience New Mexico’s largest walk-through light show which includes marine wildlife, animals, and more.

The old saying goes, “everything’s bigger in Texas,” and that couldn’t be truer in the month of December. ‘The Austin Trail of Lights’ is a community-held event that welcomes those of all ages from all over. Located in the heart of Austin, this display captures the Austin, TX culture in true light form. With live music, delicious food, and lights as far as the eye can see, this is a must for all on assignment in Texas and surrounding areas.

Hershey Park’s Sweet Light’s – Hershey, PA

Known for its ties with the Hershey chocolate bar, Hershey, PA, comes with another identity during the holidays. This drive-thru light show brings two miles of animated light displays, while in the comfort of your vehicle. The northeast tends to get a tad bit chilly this time of year, so convenience is definitely a plus for this event. Going until January 1st, this is a great way to experience the holidays while on a travel assignment in the northeast.

No matter where you’re on assignment, it’s always important to keep the holiday cheer this time of year.
