By Ty Ottoson, Social Media Recruiter, Aureus Medical

Are you a first-time traveler or a traveler looking for your next assignment — but not quite sure how to find housing in a new location? Aureus Medical has a couple options for you to choose from while you consider your next move.

Read on for some tips and information on those options. First, you’ll need to decide whether or not you’d like to take advantage of Aureus Medical’s company-paid housing or if you’d like to find and pay out of pocket for your own housing.

Option One: Aureus Medical Provides Your Housing

Aureus Medical has a housing department within our company. This team is filled with experts that can find you secure, private, company-paid housing, so you don’t have to worry about it.

Often, this housing will be in an extended stay hotel with a kitchen area available. We’ll always try to find housing for you as close to your facility as possible, so we can make it that much easier for you! We can also explore pet-friendly and/or family-friendly housing for you if that’s a feature you need while traveling.

Option Two: You Find Your Own Housing

A lot of travelers actually prefer finding their own housing for an assignment but are not quite sure what resources to use or where to start. Here are a few excellent examples of resources that some of our travelers use to find housing for an assignment:

  • Airbnb — A lot of travelers prefer to find an Airbnb close their facility. If you’re unfamiliar, Airbnb is an online marketplace for lodging. Depending on your host’s availability, properties here can be rented short-term or long-term. Sometimes there’s even a discount for longer term rentals. This website is a great resource because you can usually find something to rent out for the duration of your assignment for a great price. Plus, many Airbnb properties are in neighborhoods so you can really get a good feel for your location!
  • Facebook Groups — Once you know the location you’re going to for your next assignment, join the town’s local Facebook group and ask around for different housing options.
  • Travel Nurse Housing Group — This is another group that will help you find housing in the area you are going to as well. Hosts post their properties here and must include images, price, location, and description.

While Aureus Medical cannot promise that you’ll have success with any of these third-party pages/sites, we hope this gives you a good starting point if you choose to find your own housing!

Accepting an assignment can be an exciting time in your life, but when it comes down to finding housing, it can also be stressful. Hopefully, this will lessen your stress and help you better understand some different options when accepting an assignment and making sure you have a wonderful home away from home!
