Healthy Lifestyle Mobile Apps

Trying to live a healthy lifestyle can sometimes seem like an uphill battle when you’re traveling. You’re in an area for only 13 weeks.  What do you do? Do you join a gym? Do you join a yoga studio? What if you’re on a strict meal plan?  What if the local grocery store doesn’t carry the same items you’re used to?

Let’s face it, we like to have quick, convenient, and easy ways to remain healthy where we can avoid some of these headaches!  Hopefully the mobile apps below will provide you guidance while traveling to remain on the healthy lifestyle track.

Headspace 

If you want to try meditation, Headspace can get you started! This app has the essentials for living healthier and happier. The free app is fantastic, but the subscription offers you more – access to hundreds of meditations to aid you with your stress, anxiety, sleep, and focus. Available on iOS and Android.

Fooducate

Labels at the grocery store can be deceiving and confusing; this app is here to help! Scan bar codes of food products and Fooducate analyzes the information found on nutrition panels and ingredient lists. It then grades the food- A, B, C, etc. This app also tracks food and calories. Available on iOS and Android.

Sworkit

This app provides guided workout plans, custom workouts, and the availability to talk to a personal trainer. The guided videos and workouts range from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. Sworkit allows you to alter workouts based on fitness level-easy, medium, and hard. There is a cost subscription per month for this app, but a free trial is available. Available on iOS and Android.

Charity Miles

This app is for you runners, bikers, and even those who like to go on walks! This app tracks the miles you bike, run, or walk. Charity Miles then donates money to a charity of your choice (there are more than 40 well-known charities to choose between). Earn 10 cents per mile for biking and 25 cents per mile for running or walking. Available on iOS and Android.

ActiveX

If you’re ready to shake up your workouts, check out ActiveX. This app has countless HIIT workouts you can access at any time! It also includes 30-day challenges, a workout log, and in-app coaching to perform movements correctly. It also has spin workouts available, too. Available on iOS.

Happify

What’s your happiness score? If it’s not where you want it, this app provides tools and programs created by scientists to help you take control of your thoughts and feelings. Happify focuses on overcoming stress and negative thoughts by using positive psychology, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The exercises are simple and can be done anywhere, any time. Available on iOS and Android.

FitRadio

If you’re tired of listening to the same old boring playlist during your workout, check out this app! FitRadio provides thousands of quality DJ mixes that are designed specifically to fuel workouts by maintaining a consistent BPM (beats per minute)-no more slow songs! New playlists and mixes are added daily. The best part? There are never commercials. There is a cost subscription, but you can do a free trial to check it out first. Available on iOS and Android.

    I recently started yoga. It’s a great feeling after an hour session. Well, we can also add meditation to our daily exercise. Here is what I came across while I was on an adventure trip, I found an app called the SOS method app, They have multiple series within the app which helps to relieve stress or power up in as little as 5 minutes and increases feelings of peace, mindfulness, and productivity when used regularly.
