If you’ve had a few fall or winter assignments as a traveling clinician, you’re likely no stranger to seasonal sniffles and coughs. Cold and flu season comes in full force each year, and this year is no exception. With another rising wave of influenza and Covid-19 variants, we may have entered what most call a “twindemic.”

What is a twindemic?

A twindemic is an overlapping surge of both Covid-19 and influenza, creating a twin pandemic. Each year, the potential for a twindemic looms, but Covid precautions have majorly helped suppress flu activity. Already struggling with the impact of one pandemic, both viruses affecting patient populations would put a severe strain on clinicians and overwhelm health systems everywhere. This would impact patient care in all areas, whether it’s treatment for a virus or a broken bone.

How is this year different than previous years?

Over the last few years, Covid-related precautions like social distancing, staying home, and masking have helped slow the spread of flu activity, contributing to historically low rates of influenza and other respiratory virus transmissions.

This year is different. Mask mandates are lifted, public gatherings are in full swing again, and people are returning to pre-pandemic lives, increasing the risk of higher flu and Covid activity.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that flu causes between 140,00 and 710,000 hospitalizations annually. And each year, experts look at signs from the southern hemisphere, where flu season hits earlier than the U.S., to help predict what to expect each year. At the moment, all signs point to a pretty significant respiratory illness season.

How can healthcare travelers prepare?

Unfortunately, traveling clinicians are regularly exposed to both viruses. And although the severity of an epidemic and impact can depend on the region you are traveling to, it’s always a good idea to brush up on best practices to keep yourself safe and healthy on assignment.

  • Check flu trends in your destination before you head out: As you cross your T’s and dot your I’s before your next winter assignment, take some time to check current Covid and flu statistics in your new area. Staying up to date on this info can help you mentally prepare for high twindemic levels at your new facility. You can also regularly check with the CDC for maps of current Covid and flu activity or helpful resources specifically for healthcare professionals.
  • Get vaccinated: The CDC states that vaccination is the best defense against these viruses. Nowadays, getting your flu shots and Covid boosters at your nearest drug store is easier than ever. If you’re considering a vaccination or two, the FDA advises receiving your vaccine up to two weeks before traveling.
  • Prioritize your health: It can be harder to manage flu and Covid precautions during travel assignments. You can’t just not touch things throughout the day. Unwanted bacteria could be hiding anywhere, from airplanes and rental cars to the knobs, handles, and switches you use daily. But there are easy actions you can take throughout the day, like keeping hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes at the ready, avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, or knowing when you’re too high risk to take an assignment. Keeping these and other excellent germ-conscious best practices top of mind will help you remain your healthiest self for you and your patients.

The U.S. is getting closer and closer to a twindemic with each flu season. Great travel nurses and allied health professionals like you can play a significant role in helping patients, colleagues, and others prevent illness and protect the vulnerable. It takes a village to deliver exceptional care, and we’re glad you’re part of ours!

Working with Multiple Travel Recruiters https://www.aureusmedical.com/blog/working-with-multiple-travel-recruiters/ https://www.aureusmedical.com/blog/working-with-multiple-travel-recruiters/#comments Mon, 07 Nov 2022 13:58:31 +0000 https://www.aureusmedical.com/blog/?p=168194 How do I go about working with multiple travel companies? It’s totally understandable to work with a couple of travel companies to find positions. It is your career that we are dealing with.

The post Working with Multiple Travel Recruiters appeared first on Aureus Medical Group’s healthcare blog provides articles and information regarding careers in travel nursing, travel therapy, allied health and more..

]]>
Question: Is it okay to work with multiple travel recruiters?

Answer: Yes, it’s perfectly okay to work with multiple recruiters!

Just like no two travelers are alike, no two recruiters are the same, and you may need to work with a few before you find one with the communication, style, personality, and work ethic that meshes best with yours. There are so many benefits to keeping your foot in the door with multiple agencies, and if you’re curious about the proper dos and don’t of juggling a couple of travel nursing or allied health recruiters, then you’ve come to the right place.

Pros of Multiple Recruiters:

⦁ Access to a wider pool of job opportunities.
⦁ Can help you discover what type of agency or recruiter is best for you.
⦁ You’re more likely to find jobs in your specialty where and when you want.

Working with a couple of different recruiters helps you cast a wider net for jobs and puts you on the fast track to discovering exactly what you want (or don’t want) in a recruiter or agency. With more job options, there’s a higher chance of finding travel assignments that meet more of your criteria, like a super specific location or a popular shift type. As you start to see more opportunities roll in, it’s important to go with the job that makes the most sense for you and can help you achieve your travel goals.

Cons of Multiple Recruiters:

⦁ More people, jobs, and paperwork to juggle.
⦁ It requires more time and energy from you.
⦁ You may always be wondering what else is out there.

Sometimes the grass isn’t greener, and you don’t need to mess with a good thing! If you have a recruiter you wholeheartedly trust, love your agency, and consistently get quality offers – hold on tight! Balancing multiple recruiters means extra reference checks, skills assessments, onboarding, paperwork, and more. That may be two or three times the effort you simply don’t need to spend.

What to do when working with multiple recruiters:

Here are some best practices to consider when talking with numerous recruiters.

⦁ Be upfront and transparent.

Nicely let each recruiter know you’re also talking with other agencies and are not interested in being exclusive. They’ll appreciate the honesty, which can help build a good foundation of trust. When you have that, you know your recruiter truly has your best interests in mind while searching for your next travel assignment.

⦁ Talk specifics.

Working with a recruiter is a two-way street. When you’re open about exactly what you want, hope, and need to get out of each travel assignment, you give your recruiter a chance to deliver! Lay all your expectations on the table, ask your most important questions, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised just how far a quality recruiter will go for a quality traveler.

⦁ Communicate quickly and clearly.

Most misunderstandings are entirely preventable, and a quick phone call can do wonders to clear up any miscommunication. When you and your recruiter communicate quickly and clearly, it will make the whole process much easier.

What NOT to do when working with multiple recruiters:

Try to avoid these three traveler faux pas when looking for your next travel assignment.

⦁ Never lead a recruiter on.

It’s never okay to lead someone on; recruiters are people, too! They spend hours of their workday on you, between phone calls, getting to know you, intake and onboarding, job search, and submittals. As soon as you know you can’t or won’t accept a job from them, let them know! That said, you are never obligated to stay with a recruiter/agency if it doesn’t feel right. Trust your gut, give it a fighting chance, and if it’s just not for you, then move on.

⦁ Don’t try to double your chances.

While it may seem like better odds to submit for the same job through multiple recruiters, it can raise a red flag to the hospital’s hiring manager. By trying to maximize your chances with the perfect assignment, you’re also wasting your recruiter’s time and energy.

⦁ Don’t try to price shop.

Different companies will offer different compensation, benefits packages, and placements, so of course you’d want to find the best option that checks your most important boxes. However, it’s never a good idea to pit recruiters against each other for a better pay rate or to take a job to another recruiter.

Finding a recruiter you trust may be even more important than the agency they represent, so it’s always in your best interest to talk with as many agencies as possible. Over time and with experience, you’ll learn what you like best (or wish to avoid!) in a travel healthcare recruiter and how to navigate the pros and cons of healthcare traveling. In the end, what matters most is knowing that every one of your recruiters has your best interests at heart.

As an Aureus Medical traveler, you have an entire team of recruiting experts, great benefits, company-paid housing, 401(k), and more at your fingertips. But a major cherry on top of this travel nursing sundae is the opportunity to earn bonuses! Surprisingly, many travelers may not even be aware of these programs, but they’re an additional way you can make extra money — and they’re both super easy!

Here’s a bit about how these no-strings bonuses work:

$600 Loyalty Bonus

After every 600 hours worked with Aureus Medical, you earn a $600 bonus!

All Aureus Medical travelers are automatically enrolled in the loyalty bonus program at the start of their first assignment. We automatically track your hours worked throughout the year for you, but you can always check the status of your loyalty bonus at any time with your recruiter. Once you’ve reached 600 hours and earn the $600 loyalty bonus you immediately start earning towards your next bonus.

The fine print:

  • On-call hours do not count toward the loyalty bonus. However, call back and all other hours, like extra shifts, do.
  • The number of loyalty bonuses you can earn are unlimited! So keep accruing hours, and once you reach 600 your count automatically resets.
  • Your hours never expire! If you take some time off from traveling with Aureus Medical, we’ll hold on to your accrued hours, and they’ll be available to use when you return.

The loyalty bonus program is our small way of thanking you for your hard work, loyalty, and commitment to quality patient care. So keep doing you, accrue those hours, and we’ll take care of the rest!

$500 Referral Bonus

Earn an extra $500 for every successful referral to Aureus Medical!

If you have any colleagues, friends, or any talented nurses and allied healthcare professionals interested in a travel or direct-hire opportunity, refer them to Aureus Medical!

There’s no limit to the number of referral bonuses you can earn, but candidates must include your full name in their application, accept a position, and work at least 30 days before you’re awarded your $500 bonus. Just like our loyalty bonus, is no limit to the number of people you can refer or the number of referral bonuses you can receive.

How to Refer a Candidate:
Have the perfect person in mind already? All you need to do to refer your candidate is follow the link below and complete a short referral form.

Refer a candidate and claim your bonus!

Once your form is submitted, your candidate will be contacted by an Aureus Medical recruiter. In the meantime, they can search available jobs online or call 1.866.663.3548 for any questions about the process!

However they contact us, be sure they mention your name!

You may have pressed the breaks on a travel career before, but would you ever consider hitting the open road again? Your job can be highly demanding and emotionally taxing, so don’t let day-to-day stressors lead to permanent burnout. Instead, consider a change of pace with a travel assignment or two! Here are a few compelling reasons to get in touch with your recruiter again, for old-time’s sake.

1.You can work at your own pace

Work, rest, explore, repeat! Create your dream work/life balance and take assignments as few or often as you’d like. Take time to recoup and reset between contracts or plan to be near family for important moments. After the last few years, you’ve definitely earned it!

2.You can keep your benefits for up to 4 weeks between assignments

While every agency is different, Aureus Medical Group and Medical Solutions nursing and allied travelers stay covered in-between assignments. So schedule some R&R or finally take that weekend trip (or two!), knowing all your health benefits are still in place.

3.You can work different assignment lengths

Plan an amazing year with contract lengths that fit your lifestyle and personal travel goals. Whether you prefer to work as needed, like Per Diem or Strike, standard 8-13 week assignments, or longer-term contracts, you get a say in where you work, for how long, and when.

4.You can shake up your day-to-day

The same work routine day after day and year after year can get a bit old, but it turns out frequent travel can help make people up to 7% happier! Each new travel assignment is a chance to jump out of your comfort zone and experience something new, all while continuing your passion and commitment to care.

5.You can take the time to advance your education

Traveling can also help you shoot for that additional certification or degree you’ve always wanted. Because of flexible scheduling and time to take off between assignments, you have more time to focus on your educational goals without putting your career on hold.

6.You can expand your clinical skills

One of the best parts of traveling is the chance to broaden your professional skill sets. Share your knowledge with others and learn something new in return! Even the most seasoned healthcare veteran could benefit from working closely with skilled and inspiring clinicians across the country.2)

7.You can help patients and communities in need

You know as well as we do that compassion and care don’t stop with patients – they spread out into the community. You were called to care for a reason, and as a healthcare traveler, you can be where help is needed most.

There are so many rewarding reasons to jump back into a healthcare travel career. Whether you need a change of pace, a way to ease into retirement, or just the time and flexibility to pursue other ventures, traveling can help get you there.

Traveling. The word itself has so many stereotypes and misconceptions, especially when it comes to healthcare traveling. I want to bring light to a few of those misconceptions so more people fall in love with traveling. Read on for the top five myths that I believe are most common in the traveling industry.

Myth #1: “It’s too hard to travel with kids or family.”

Many clinicians travel with partners, children, relatives, pets, and even friends! Bringing your loved ones with you on assignment is like traveling with a piece of home and can help make it all the more enjoyable and rewarding. Of course, there’s a lot to consider when bringing others with you on assignments, like extra travel-related expenses or care while at work. Some questions to consider that can help lay the foundation for a successful travel assignment with family are:

  • Logistics – Are you driving or flying? Are you renting a U-Haul, packing up the RV, or taking only what you can carry?
  • Housing – How many bedrooms do you need? Does your accommodation need to include a dedicated working space for schoolwork or remote work?
  • Education – In person, online, or homeschool?
  • Childcare – Will your childcare travel with you in the form of a spouse, relative, or nanny? Or will you hire as you go?

The good news is with some careful preparation and planning, it’s 100% doable! Your plan of action depends on your unique travel situation (for example, traveling solo with a toddler looks much different than traveling with a family). It’s important to always be open and communicative with your travel companions, so everyone is in-tune and on track together. And remember, you can always reach out to your recruiter, other travelers, or support groups to help guide you through travel assignments with pets, friends, or family!

Myth #2: “I’m going to have to find my own housing.”

Not necessarily! It depends on the agency, but there are typically two ways you can secure housing for each assignment:

  • Your agency finds housing for you.
Your recruiter will work closely with your agency’s housing team to ensure all your most important boxes are checked. Nearby, pet-friendly, kid-friendly, fully furnished – you name it – your agency can help take the stress out of finding a safe, private space. They’ll even cover pet deposits and utilities!

    • Pro: Your recruiter helps travelers find places every day, so they already know the better places to rent, the best parts of town, and what’s worked for others (or hasn’t worked) in the past.
    • Con: You may prefer to have a more active role in the search or want to see more options than your agency provides.
  • You secure your own short-term housing.
Some travelers opt to take the housing stipend offered by their agency and search for their own short-term accommodations. Nowadays, fully-furnished monthly stays are common, and easy to book online through rental sites like Airbnb, Vrbo, Furnished Finder, or extended-stay hotels.

    • Pro: This option allows you to be a little pickier about location, the rental, and accommodations, down to the square footage.
    • Con: The search for the perfect stay can be time-consuming, you’re responsible for fees that exceed the stipend, and if there are any issues with your accommodations, it’s up to you to sort them out.

Whether you choose agency-provided housing or decide to see what’s out there yourself, your recruiter is an endless resource for recommendations or advice and is always here when you need them!

Myth #3: Travelers get stuck with terrible shifts.”

This is something that many assume, but in truth, the shifts you work depend on the positions you accept. Traveler contracts come in all shapes, durations, and sizes, allowing you to explore schedule flexibility that a permanent position just can’t offer. Your recruiter will work closely with you to help you find the right job, in the right place, for the right length. But in the end, you have the final say when you accept or reject an assignment.

Myth #4: “There’s no stability in healthcare traveling.”

Don’t fret – travelers receive benefits! While you care for your patients, it’s only fitting your agency helps care for you. Every agency is different, so discussing your plan’s specifics with your recruiter is best.

Aureus Medical Group travelers are covered from day one with a comprehensive perks and benefits package that includes:

  • Low-cost, day-one health, vision, and dental
  • Unlimited loyalty and referral bonuses
  • 401k with company match
  • Housing and travel services or stipends
  • Free mental health and well-being services
  • Pet insurance, paid licensure, paid immunizations, and more!

On top of those fantastic benefits, there’s no shortage of stability in the job market. You’ll find thousands of Aureus Medical travel assignments in every corner of the U.S., including Washington, D.C. and Guam, with new jobs posted daily!

Myth #5: “I’m too old to travel.”

There’s absolutely no age limit to becoming a healthcare traveler! Facilities are looking for passionate, professional clinicians who can get the job done. Seasoned, more experienced clinicians might decide to start traveling for several reasons, all personal and unique to their care journey. Maybe the kiddos have left the nest, or you’re looking for a way to ease into retirement. Traveling’s flexibility allows you to work on and off at your own comfortable pace – i.e., take an assignment, take some time off, take an assignment, etc. So, no matter which stage you’re at in your healthcare career, it’s never too late to follow your career dreams.

Let’s be honest – as a single parent, transitioning into a travel nurse or allied health traveler can seem totally overwhelming! After all, it’s a commitment that requires a change in routine, housing, education, childcare – you name it. But it’s important to remember you’re not the first (or only!) single parent traveling with their children. With thorough research, planning, and helpful tips, traveling as a single parent is entirely doable and can be one of the most rewarding adventures!

Why Travel as a Single Parent?

Traveling with your littles gives them opportunities to see the country and experience things they wouldn’t be able to do at home, like kayaking with manatees in the Florida Keys or touring ancient cliff-dwelling Puebloan ruins in Colorado. It equips them with the experience and confidence to navigate unfamiliar situations, appreciate diverse cultures, and connect with new people at an early age.

Not to mention the amazing flexibility for you! Assignment lengths vary from as little as 1 – 4 weeks up to 28+ weeks, so you can select jobs with the right hours at the right time of the year that suits you and your family’s needs best. Maybe it makes sense to only travel during the summer months right now. Or perhaps you’re ready to go all in, all year long. In any case, your recruiter is your best resource to help you find travel assignments that check the most important boxes for you.

The flexibility of healthcare traveling is unlike any that a permanent nursing or allied position can offer, but traveling as a single parent is not a decision to be taken lightly. Ultimately, you know what’s best for you and your family. Here are some tips and resources to help you transition to a travel career as a single parent.

Travel and Logistics

Will you fly or drive from assignment to assignment? Are you packing up the U-Haul, or are you living off only what you can carry? There’s a lot to consider in just transportation alone!

Start off Small
Dip your toes in by taking your first couple of travel assignments a few hours from home. This will help you and your kiddo get a sense of what it’d be like to live across the country. You’ll learn so much about what you over- or under-packed and get a good sense of what you thought you needed vs. what you could handle (with the security of home just a few hours away). Just remember, with Aureus Medical Group, assignments must be at least 50 miles away from a permanent residence.

Travel Smarter, Not Harder
If flying, put your travel stipend towards flight deals or a rewards program that helps you get the most bang for your buck. Or make the flying process less of a hassle by applying for TSA PreCheck. If driving, save on precious car space by limiting the toys or clothing you bring, and pick up some clearance or goodwill toys once you arrive at your destination. This limits the number of things you carry from place to place and makes going out to choose a new game or outfit a fun outing for you both.

Carry Proof
Make sure you have copies of all the necessary documentation and relevant paperwork for you and your kids! You may unexpectedly need to provide a birth certificate, proof of relationship, or additional photo IDs as you travel.

The more you travel, the more you find out what you need and can live without. If you are keeping a permanent residence or storage unit, it’s a little easier to leave some items behind, like furniture, seasonal clothes, and other non-necessities. If you’re taking your whole life with you, it will get easier with each new assignment!

Housing

Your home away from home can either be agency-provided or arranged by you. With the addition of your sidekick, quality housing can influence your travel assignment’s success. Since your housing is where you and your kid will be most often, there are definitely some advantages and disadvantages to consider for both.

Company-Provided Housing
If you choose company-provided housing, you have less control over where you stay, but it’s less of a headache to find a place to live that meets all your needs. Your agency will work with you to accommodate your requests, whether you need pet-friendly, an extra room dedicated to schoolwork, proximity to the hospital, single-family, etc., but there is no guarantee they can provide everything on your list.

Housing Stipend
If you choose to take the housing stipend and arrange your own short-term accommodation, you have total control over where you live, but you must spend the extra time and effort securing it from afar. Many choose to travel in an RV or a renovated sprinter van, removing the stress of house-searching altogether.

Whichever you choose, your recruiter is with you each step of the way with resources, discounts, housing advice, and other helpful tips!

Education

The pandemic certainly gave students of all ages a taste of online, teacher-guided curriculum. Nowadays, there are so many accredited online programs for different ages and educational paths, like honors, credit recovery, dual credit, advanced placement, special education, and more. If your child seemed to enjoy or thrive in the virtual learning environment, then transitioning to a full-time online elementary, middle, or high school might be easier than you think.

Online courses offer flexibility for all learners on the move, from young competitive athletes to families that often travel for work. Programs will work with you and your child to develop routines that work best with their individualized needs, whether live, synchronous classes at specific hours, or self-guided virtual lessons at any time of the day.

Your home state or district may have an online option that works for you. Here are a few examples of public online education that students are thriving in across the country:
University of Nebraska High School, grades 9-12 in Nebraska
Legacy Online Academy, grades K-8 in Arizona
Cal-Pac Charter School, grades K-12 in California
Launch, grades K-12 in Missouri
Tennessee Online Public School, grades K-12 in Tennessee

Childcare

The person who cares for your children and where they go while you’re working can be one of the biggest obstacles you’ll face with each new assignment. While older children may be responsible enough to be left alone, your little ones cannot. It’s important to remember you do have options!

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Services
As an Aureus Medical Group traveler, you can access to parenting resources through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Through the free program, you can get referrals for childcare providers, after-school programs, camps, child development, and more to help you navigate each new assignment.

Bring Someone You Trust
Consider asking a grandparent, close friend, or relative you trust (and who has the availability) to travel with you. With someone you know and love caring for your child each day, you know you’ll have one less thing to worry about with full-time, low-cost childcare covered.

Care.com/Sitter.com
Try a well-known, highly reviewed sitter service like care.com or sitter.com. Contact as many applicants as you can, thoroughly vet each person, read their references, and consider their experience in your child’s age range. Clearly define your expectations and contract agreements, like pay, length of employment, and so on. Also, consider nanny cameras with remote access apps so you can check in on your child throughout your shift. You should always notify potential nannies that there are cameras before offering them a position!

It can all seem a bit daunting at first, but if you start with a clear plan, thoroughly research and vet what you can control, and keep an open mind, you’ll set a strong foundation that will pay off with each new assignment. You have a whole community of single-parent travelers supporting you, so look to travel nurse Facebook groups, friends or family, or your recruiter for advice, tips, and encouragement along the way! And remember, from housing to education to childcare, Aureus Medical Group is here to help you explore opportunities as a single-parent travel nurse or allied health professional. Contact us online or start searching for a travel assignment today!

Travel nursing can truly be the best of both worlds, combining the security of a full-time healthcare career with the joys and mobility of traveling all in one. It’s a flexible alternative to a permanent nursing position that allows you to test drive a travel career at your own pace. If you’re curious about starting a travel nursing career, here are a few of the many perks you can expect.

Contract Lengths that Fit Your Lifestyle

With flexible scheduling, you don’t need to adjust life events to fit around work– you can easily supplement work to fit around your life. Travel contracts are available in all shapes, durations, and sizes, but you can choose assignments that best work for you and your unique needs. Need some supplemental income here and there? No problem. Want to work 13 weeks, take 4 weeks off, and repeat? You got it. Only want to work for half the calendar year? You do you!

Travel nurse contracts range from as little as 4 to as many as 26 weeks, sometimes more, sometimes less. But a flexible schedule or part-time traveling doesn’t mean fewer hours; your usual hours and shifts are just in shorter contracts or fewer assignments.

Shorter Contracts: Per Diem, PRN, Strike, or 2-6 Weeks

Shorter contracts are typically needed to help hospitals fill crisis gaps in scheduling around holidays, vacation time, strike staffing, etc. These contract lengths offer the most flexibility and are perfect for supplemental income, but they can have some drawbacks. They can be hard to find and harder to secure, and it’s more common to see contract cancellations if the hospital has over-booked coverage.

Average Contracts: 8-13 Weeks

A hospital may need travel nurses for any reason, and 8 to13 week assignments help fill staffing gaps due to medical leaves, new hire orientations, vacations, and shortages. As a traveler, these contracts can add value to your travel experience. Up to 13 weeks in a facility gives you time to find your bearings, you’re more likely to get time off requests honored, and you can maintain a great rate for longer.

Longer Contracts: 16-26 Weeks and Contract Extensions

Long-term contracts, usually 16 to 26 weeks long, can help hospitals maintain patient care through seasonal fluctuations, understaffing, clinician burnout, etc. Like your average 13-week contract, longer travel assignments have better housing and pay benefits and can sometimes lead to extensions or full-time positions. Extensions and permanent offers usually happen when (and if) the hospital has the need and is happy with your performance, and you agree to stay longer.

Contract variety is a huge benefit of travel nursing that’s just not possible with a permanent position today. Maybe you’d prefer to hop around every few months, or maybe you enjoy sticking around, living in each new area like a local. Whatever your preference, a variety of flexible assignments are available with Aureus Medical Group across the country. Your recruiter will work closely with you to help find the right position, in the right place, for the right length.

Time to Reset and Refresh

We often underestimate the value of R&R for our physical and mental health. Nursing is high-stress and emotionally taxing 24/7, but traveling gives you room to take a step back and breathe. Scheduling time to recharge between assignments helps avoid serious burnout and compassion fatigue, interrupting workplace stress that leads to anxiety and over-exhaustion.
The easiest way to pencil in some guilt-free “me time” while traveling is to take advantage of your travel agency’s benefits policy. With Aureus Medical Group, you can take up to 4 weeks off between assignments and keep all your health benefits. So carve out time for a worry-free week or two off between assignments and enjoy it your way. Maybe book a seaside getaway in a charming beach town, or plan the ultimate staycation and finally tackle that ever-growing to-do list!

Part-time travel nursing gives you the time off to reset and refresh so you can be your very best for your patients. If you are experiencing mental or physical symptoms of burnout, workplace anxiety, or compassion fatigue, here are some helpful educational resources to help assess and seek help.

Grow your Clinical Knowledge

Part-time traveling can help you open personal and professional doors. Each new assignment is a chance to develop a new skill and expand your resume, and the flexible nature of part-time travel offers the opportunity to invest in yourself and take significant steps for the future.

Broaden Your Skillsets

Traveling helps you build upon your clinical knowledge as you experience what it’s like to work in different acuity levels and facility types. Learn new technologies in urban facilities and strengthen your communication skills in rural communities. You’ll get the chance to work side by side with inspiring clinicians and see firsthand how different healthcare systems function across the country. (Which will look great on your resume!)

Advance Your Education

Looking to advance your degree? Considering an additional certification in critical care, trauma, or neonatal resuscitation? Furthering your education is a testament to your dedication and expertise in your specialty. Flexible scheduling and time off can help you reach even higher or take that extra step in your education. Traveling gives you the time and space to pursue your career passions without sacrificing career security.

Expand Your Resume

Everything you learn on assignment adds to your ever-growing list of abilities! From soft skills, clinical skills, knowledge of protocols, state laws, and so on, your experiences help make you a well-rounded and attractive candidate for most jobs. As you’re assembling or updating your resume, don’t rule anything out that could help showcase your range of abilities and skills. Just be sure to follow best practices or resume do’s and don’ts!

Shake Things Up with a Part-Time Travel Career

Part-time travel nursing allows you to experience the rush of travel and the safety of career security at your own pace. You can choose what assignments you take, for how long, and when, which gives you the time and space to take healthy breaks or pursue professional advancement. Whatever your reasons or motivations behind a flexible career – part-time travel nursing can certainly help you get there.

When fall finally hits, a new adventure is in the air! If you’re searching for your next big Aureus Medical Group travel assignment, check out these six fall-tastic states and start planning for delicious comfort food, colorful treescapes, and spooktacular festivals. So break out your flannel and order that pumpkin spice latte – here are a handful of the best fall destinations to add to your travel bucket list for an un-be-leaf-able autumn travel assignment.

New Hampshire

There’s something absolutely magical about New Hampshire in the fall. Maybe it’s the vibrant colors, casual moose sightings, or rich colonial history, but NH is one of the best states to visit this time of year. Spend a weekend in a magical treehouse getaway, or take a day trip to catch sights up and down Kancamagus Highway, a stunning 35-mile route that snakes its way through the colorful White Mountains. Travelers from all over flock to “The Kanc” for camping, hiking, and a glimpse of one of 4 scenic waterfalls just off the road. If you snag a travel job in New Hampshire this fall, you’re surely in for a colorful visit!

Kentucky

When you see travel assignments around Kentucky, think of historic Victorian neighborhoods that housed the bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and tobacco titans of the 18th century. The rolling hills of KY are lively all autumn, and spooky celebrations like haunted houses and ghost tours are in no short supply. For the faint of heart, you can instead spend your weekends chasing different kinds of spirits on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, zip-lining through caves, or strolling through Louisville’s JackO’Lantern Spectacular – an enchanting outdoor pumpkin trail with more than 5,000 hand-carved gourds illuminating your way.

Idaho

Don’t sleep on travel assignments in Idaho! This state is ideal for traveling any part of the year, and the fall is no exception. This weather-esque and uniquely shaped state is the Pacific Northwest’s lesser-known child, which makes a few months there quite the mystery! Take in the natural beauty of Sawtooth National Forest, where mountain ranges, aspen woods, and sparkling rivers collide into a 2.1-million-acre outdoor enthusiast’s playground. Or head into one of the many charming cities, like Boise or Coeur d’Alene, for some fine dining and nightlife. The unexpected charm and beauty hidden throughout the state make it the perfect place for those who crave adventure this fall in the Pacific Northwest.

California

For travelers wishing to be coastal, California in the fall might be the best time to visit! The weather is still warm and pleasant, the fog is minimal, and the crowds have thinned from the summer peak season. Whether you’re looking for some last-call sun and sand on the beach, trees and trails in Redwood National Park, or some Halloween fun at Disneyland, California has it all. One of the largest states on the West Coast, Cali’s good vibes are home to many fall festivals and fairs! Check out some bluegrass in San Francisco, spot some unusual activity at the Cambria Scarecrow Festival, or eat your way through Big Bear Lake Octoberfest.

The Ozarks

Technically a region that encompasses Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, The Ozarks has such an undeniable country charm you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back to your best years at summer camp. A drive through the Ozark Mountains in the fall is a vibrant display of bright orange, deep red, and warm golden hues. Spend a perfect autumn day exploring any one of the 300 tourable cave systems dotting the region, like Fantastic Caverns or Marvel Cave. Or experience thrilling rides, home-style charm, and ginormous pumpkins at Silver Dollar City’s Harvest Festival. Kayak the crystal-clear spring-fed Currant River down into Arkansas, then make your way over to progressive Bentonville, the birthplace of Walmart and home of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. A fall travel assignment in The Ozarks is definitely the icing on the funnel cake!

Grab your sweaters and hiking boots! We hope this list inspires you to hit the road and explore these (and more) charming fall-forward states in the next few months. As you search for travel assignments, remember that new job postings are added daily. Check this page or the Aureus Medical Group website regularly to see if a position in your specialty has been posted in these fun states.
