Veteran's Day

Veteran’s Day – Honoring One of Our Own

Veteran’s Day is a day we set aside to honor those who serve and sacrifice for our country. Currently one of our own recruiters, Chad Morgan, is on deployment and continues to provide security for others. We had the opportunity to talk with him about his time in service.

What branch do you serve under, what is your title/rank, and how long have you been an active member of the military? I served five years in the Marines and currently in the National Guard. I’ve been actively serving for over 14 years.

What inspired you to serve our country? I’ve always wanted to serve and be a part of something bigger than myself. Once 9/11 happened, I enlisted exactly two months later.

How many deployments have you been sent on & what are some of the first things you do to prepare yourself to be sent on a mission? I am currently on my 5th There isn’t much you can do to prepare yourself for something like deployment. Leaving your family, kids, and friends is one of the hardest things I have done.

How has Aureus supported you while being called to serve? Aureus has been awesome to work with during my time leading up to this. They have been huge supporters all the way to up to senior leadership; Scot, Craig, Matt, & Mark. They are always checking in with me and asking about my family.

What do miss the most when you are overseas? The thing I miss the most is my family. My wife and especially my kids. It’s hard being away from them when they are so little.

Thank you to Chad and all of the other veterans for your service and dedication to our great nation!

  1. So great to hear directly from one of our servicemen. Kudos to you and your family for all you do. It reminds me of a few things right off the bat: “All gave some; some gave all.” I have the utmost respect for all service men and women and feel that no monument could ever be built to recognize the World War II veterans who are still with us or have passed away. To me, they literally saved the planet.

Please take time to stop and reflect on that each day.

We are so blessed to live in a country where we can freely worship without harassment, treat each other and ourselves with respect, and literally have endless opportunities to become and do whoever we were meant to be, and thanks to veterans centuries ago and currently, we’re all able to do that.

I’m currently on an assignment where some of the patients I treat don’t have running water or electricity, much less a TV, car, cell phone, or access to a computer.

If we have food in the refrigerator, clothes on our back, and some money in the bank, we are “richer” than probably 85% of the rest of the world. Think about that.

And “wealth” is not always expressed monetarily. A person can be wealthy in their relationships, friendships, career, and hobbies, yet have very little money, and still be extremely satisfied and grateful.

Just a few things to reflect on.

Thanks again to you and all the other service men and women in the US who have served and will continue to serve. It is a debt we civilians owe that can ultimately never really be repaid.

Bumper sticker I saw once: “If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it’s in English, thank a soldier.”
