Onboarding/Compliance Organization Tips

Have you recently been to a clinic and it was so hectic and busy? Well, you’re not alone. The past six months it seems clinics are as busy as ever.

The common theme seems to be a new/current traveler goes to a clinic and waits 1-2 hours and then 4-5 days later the recruiter/account manager still hasn’t received the results from the clinic. The recruiter/account manager and the traveler are frustrated because we keep calling the clinic, but we aren’t receiving the results and the hospital the traveler is supposed to go to is threatening to push the start date back.

This story is becoming more and more common. In most cases we can get around this by getting all those medical records from your full-time employer or past travel company. These records should be able to be obtained and when they are it’s very important for you to keep a hard copy of these on file. Create a “medical records” file and keep it in a place that you can access easily. If you keep all those medical records on hand and stay organized, it’s a pretty good chance your stay at the clinic will be much shorter and it will create much less stress for your next contract job.

Along the same lines as the medical records, it’s very important to keep up to date on your certifications. Some certifications can be tough to find renewal classes in a short time span so it’s a great idea to give yourself a reminder. We have so much technology available to us that we can utilize to help with this. If you know your CPR card expires at the end of June every two years, go ahead and set a reminder on your phone three months prior to it expiring. The best source is the American Heart Association for most certifications. Most hospitals will only accept them for most certifications so be careful of online classes. There’s nothing worse than spending time and money on a certification and it not be recognized by a hospital.

Keeping organized and using reminders can make your life much easier. You’ll spend less time in clinics or finding a certification class and spend more time exploring the new city and having fun.
