Say YES to November with Some of These Fun Fall Festivals!

It is safe to say that fall is a universally well-liked season. Not only is the weather gorgeous, but football games are played every weekend and the pumpkin patch is open! I don’t care how old you are, the hayrack ride is always fun. And while I have never graced myself with a Pumpkin Spice Latte, I’ve heard rumors that they are all the rage during fall. Overall, fall is a beautiful time of year with a wide array of activities to do before the weather turns too chilly. Here at Aureus, our therapy travelers are spread throughout the entire US, so I have compiled a list of some of the best fall festivals and activities for them (and you!) to scope out if you’re in the area!

The Darkness Haunted House–open now through November 1, then 7-8 in St. Louis, MO

Since 2007, this haunted house has been visited by over one million people! If that doesn’t speak volumes for its popularity, I’m not sure what does. Voted one of the scariest haunted houses in America, The Darkness will make other haunted houses seem tame. Featuring state-of-the-art special effects and 3D computer-generated scenes, this terrifying exhibit will have you thinking about the scares for days afterward. Click here for more information.

Dia de los Muertos Street Festival–November 1 in Corpus Christi, TX

This festival draws almost 35,000 in attendance! This “Day of the Dead” holiday party features live music, craft activities, and over 90 booths selling traditional Day of the Dead items. For a fun-filled cultural experience, don your favorite skeleton costume and attend this festival! Click here for more information.

Urbanna Oyster Festival–November 7-8 in Urbanna, VA

The Urbanna Oyster Festival draws crowds of thousands! This oyster festival has a myriad of activities, ranging from live music and performers to an oyster shucking contest. This two-day event includes an infamous parade that has become a vital part of the Oyster Festival. If you are an oyster fan, I think this festival would be right up your alley. The Northwest Food & Wine Festival–November 15th in Portland, OR

This wine festival has over 600 wines to offer during the event! If you’re looking for an excuse to dress up and drink wine somewhere other than your apartment, look no further! Spots are limited, so secure your position now. Click here for more information.

Dogtoberfest–November 15th in Dunedin, FL

Do you love dogs? Of course you do. Dogtoberfest is an adopt-a-thon featuring over 50+ animal rescue groups from the area! This is a fundraiser for Suncoast Animal League and is a fantastic way to spend a day while it’s still nice outside. This is a free event, with food and beverage available. Go hang out with some animals for a day and support the cause! Try not to adopt too many animals, even if they are all adorable. Click here for more information.

Creede Chocolate Festival–November 28-29 in Creede, CO

You had me at chocolate festival. What more do I need to say? Chocolatiers and vendors will be around for the 2-day event, offering chances to win gifts or certificates to Creede stores. Numerous chocolates will be available to be tasted and adored. I rest my case. Click here for more information.

While this is nowhere near a complete list of all the fantastic fall festivals in November, I encourage anyone looking for unique weekend plans to try out one of these possibilities. You won’t regret it. Happy fall!

  1. Chelsa, Thanks for timely reminding me of The Northwest Food & Wine Festival. I am always fond of wines and aim to go to the Double Tree Llyod Center and relish the taste and flavour of wines.
