Efficiency on Travel Assignments

I read an article the other day about the ever changing stance on healthcare. It talked about cost reduction and healthcare workers making more contact with patients in less time. It seems fair to say that efficiency in hospitals and for healthcare workers is imperative with the cuts that have taken place in recent years and will continue to take place going forward.

This article brings me to discuss a topic we talk about with our contract workers that involves efficiency. As a traveler, realize you’re a guest in someone else’s home, so to speak. When you begin a new assignment you are unaware of the facility’s culture. It is important to keep your opinions on politics, religion, etc. to yourself. You are under a microscope as a new traveler and it is best if you don’t get involved in any workplace gossip so as to avoid offending anyone. It is certainly OK to be yourself, show your personality, and make friends, but remember, you are there for the sole purpose of being an efficient worker for that facility.
