It’s Time to Celebrate OT Month!

April is the time of year when we step aside from our busy schedules to appreciate a “rebirth” of sorts and celebrate spring. What better month to also celebrate the amazing work that Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants perform on a daily basis.

If you really think about it, helping a patient re-learn how to prepare food, dress themselves, and even write a little note might seem like typical job duties for these dedicated healthcare professionals, but to the patient it is much more. We often take things like this for granted, but when they are lost, a part of the individual is lost as well. Regaining the ability to wake up in the morning and dress yourself for the day or something as simple as making a grocery list for your weekly run to the store, in a sense, is being reborn.

Occupational Therapy is one of the fastest growing careers and currently boasts roughly 117,000 licensed OTs and OTAs that are currently practicing. There are also 324 college or university-based educational programs in the United States.

Take some time during the month of April to learn more about Occupational Therapy and all it has to offer those people it touches, whether through career choices or treatment.

The benefits of Occupational Therapy are here to stay!
