How to Travel Like a Jetsetter

Did you feel lost the last time you were in an airport? Were you contemplating which restaurant to choose? Did you cringe when you heard the word layover? Well, there is no need to anymore because I have some tips that will help you become as knowledgeable about airport travel as you are in medicine.

With knowledge as prolific as it is on the internet, the problem isn’t lack of information; the problem is finding the right information. Here are my top three tips to make airports enjoyable, instead of just another leg on your journey.

Tip #1
Get to know the city by checking out these helpful sites

  • TripAdvisor – Provides reviews of local hotels, airports, and points of interest, and even includes pictures and reviews by actual people
  • Oyster.com – Provides real life photos of hotels so you won’t be fooled by flashy marketing photos and is backed up with actual investigations
  • Kiplinger.com – Provides discounts for hotels, flights, and local points of interest all over the world

Tip#2
Make your airport experience a culinary adventure

  • Yelp.com – Review site which lists prices from previous visitors
  • Urbanspoon.com – Review site which posts photos and menus
  • Check out a recent article at wsj.com (Wall Street Journal) which reveals “The Best Airport Food in the US and Beyond”

Tip #3
Get to know your airport

  • Flightstats.com – Shows the lists of restaurants, amenities, terminals, flights, and delays as well as a printable map for all major airports
  • Download the “Airport Maps” application on your mobile phone to have detailed maps for most major airports at your finger tips
  • Download the “GateGuru” application on your mobile phone – this is a TripAdvisor company that will allow you to have a good mapping and flight listing

Although there are thousands of resources available, these nine websites and mobile apps will make your next trip a breeze. Bon Voyage!
