Traveling With Your Best Friend

It’s always hard to leave your best friend at home, but here are a few things to consider before traveling with pets.

When preparing for an assignment, always make sure that your recruiter knows the type of breed, size, and any special accommodations. Keep in mind that depending on the size of the pet, you may or may not have to be prepared to put the housing in your name or be responsible for any pet deposits. Always allot money for these deposits, hotels, etc. while housing is being finalized.

Also, give your pet a test run by spending a night or two in a foreign environment, and see how they react. Just like us, a pet’s environment may have an adverse effect on them. Make sure that you are able to find their brand of food, medication, have a vet in mind, and research the area for groomers, recreation, pet stores, etc. Lastly, keep in mind that not all areas are able to accommodate your pets so be prepared to have a back up plan.

Traveling is often stressful on us, and you may not want to pass that on to your best friend!
