Celebrating National Nutrition Month

In honor of March being National Nutrition Month, it’s a good idea to brush up on tips for eating healthy while traveling. One of the great advantages and adventures of being a traveler is seeing new areas and experiencing different cultures and foods but it’s also important to watch your food intake.

We highly recommend finding a place to live where you can cook your own food and eat at home. It’s not only less expensive, but healthier than eating out all the time. It’s very easy when you’ve moved to a new area to eat out or go through the drive thru because it’s convenient.  However, we must remember that eating unhealthy food constantly can lead to obesity and other complications.

One of the first things travelers should do when moving into a new residence is to find a grocery store close by where you can buy your fruits, veggies, and meats so that you can try to eat healthy and save money at the same time.

Remember – this is your new home for the next 3-6 months so try to maintain a good food balance just like you do at home.  It’s great to experience new restaurants and foods, but keeping a balance eating at home and eating out will help keep you healthy and feeling great.

And finally, we would like to wish all of our hard-working dietitians and nutritionists a happy National Dietitian Day on March 13th! We appreciate everything you do!
