Fabulous fall adventures for a travel nurse

As a travel nurse, you have the opportunity to take part in seasonal activities in a variety of locations. Whether you are celebrating fall in the middle of New England or on the coast of Southern California, take part in fall adventures to get a real taste of seasonal culture. You can take some time for yourself before the busy holiday season kicks in.

Here are four fall adventures to partake in:

1. Cider brewing. If you have a sweet tooth and love to buy gallons of apple cider during the fall, you may want to consider brewing your own. Mix and match different types of apples so that you can find a delicate balance between the sweetness of Red Delicious and Fuji apples and the tartness of Granny Smith and Macintosh. If you can, pick your own apples at a local orchard and find unbruised fruit. Making your own apple cider can be a fun afternoon activity and leave your home smelling delicious.

2. Apple picking. Picking your own supply of local apples is a fun fall activity, whether you are trying to keep the doctor away or not. Spend an afternoon with a friend exploring an orchard, riding in a hay wagon or playing in a field. The time spent outside could boost your spirits and make you feel refreshed.

3. Pumpkin carving. During the month of October it's time to use a sharp instrument other than a scalpel. Carve a spooky design into the side of a pumpkin and light a candle so that your neighbors can see your creation. The traditional Jack-O-Lantern is a favorite in many people's households. However, don't forget to try more complex designs like a screeching cat or haunted house. Your pumpkin-carving talents may surprise even you!

4. Leaf peeping. Take a trip to the hills or mountains of New England and New York to experience the splendor of the leaves changing. If you live farther away, consider taking a long weekend to explore these areas and be dazzled by the bright colors of the leaves.
