Three fun summer destinations for travel nurse assignments

One of the best things about having a career in travel nursing is the flexibility it provides. Not only do you have the ability to work many different shifts, expanding your skills set and resume, but you can find positions anywhere in the country. You can take one assignment in a place like Orlando, Florida, and then jet off to somewhere completely different like Bangor, Maine. This is one of the best things about working as a travel nurse.

Consider taking advantage of your travel opportunities this summer by requesting a destination that is especially pleasant this time of year. Certain parts of the country feature nice weather and plenty of fun things to do. Just take a look at some of these cool places you could go to this summer and work as a travel nurse!

1. New England – There's nothing like a New England summer. The winter snow has melted away leaving nothing but sunny skies and 80 degree weather. This part of the year would be a great time to take on an assignment in a city like Boston where you could enjoy many summer festivals and then spend the weekends visiting famous destinations on the sea such as Plymouth, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The history in New England is as rich as the clam chowder and is certainly a destination you will love during the summertime. Make sure you try a lobster roll while you're there!

2. California – No matter where you're from, you can't think about summer without images of California coming to mind. The laid back surfer lifestyle of Southern California provides a tranquil retreat from hurried cities, and the chic atmosphere of Northern California cities like San Francisco attracts visitors from all over the world. Take a surfing lesson in Malibu or tour the vineyards of Sonoma during your time away from the clinic or hospital. The best part about California during the summer? The temperatures are warm and comfortable without the humidity!

3. Eastern Shore – Spend some time near the Chesapeake Bay as a travel nurse. This natural area is one of the most beautiful in the country with many opportunities for outdoor recreation. It includes parts of Virginia and Maryland and features some of the best seafood you will ever eat. The crab is especially fresh, and the little historical towns can make you forget what year it is. Consider staying in places like Chincoteague Island in Virginia, a town right down the street from Assateague Island National Seashore – a park where wild horses roam free along the surf!
