Texas therapists support World Autism Awareness Day

A Texas pediatric care office has devoted efforts this month to supporting an Autism nonprofit organization, according to a press release.

Santé Pediatric Services serves many regions of the Lone Star State with people who hold occupational therapy jobs and physical therapy jobs. For the privilege of wearing jeans one day earlier this month, staff members paid $5 to Autism Speaks to recognize World Autism Awareness Day.

"Our therapists, staff and leadership have a special interest in this day because we work with so many children and families who are affected by the diagnosis (of Autism)" said vice president Aimee Kilgore with Santé. "When we announced the opportunity to commemorate the day with fun-filled activities to generate awareness and raise money for Autism Speaks, everyone was very excited for the chance to participate."

Santé matched the final donation for its corporate contribution to the cause. The organization often has clients who are working to overcome challenges such as autism.

As one of three yearly international awareness days observed by the United Nations, World Autism Awareness Day occurred on April 2.
