As many as 600 nurses to be hired in Northeast Ohio

A Northeast Ohio hospital is prepared to issue as many as 600 job offers to registered nurses, according to a published report.

The Cleveland Clinic has 200 new nursing jobs and 400 existing ones available, according to The Plain Dealer. The jobs are slated to be at the medical center's main campus and eight community hospitals. The nursing jobs also will be for hospice and home-care services, chief nursing officer Sarah Sinclair told the news source.

"We're looking for candidates who already are licensed registered nurses," Sinclair told the news source, noting the availability for the jobs is immediate and candidates will undergo interviews, background checks and health screenings.

Officials from nursing organizations in the state are pointing to the new jobs as part of a trend suggesting medical centers across Ohio are beginning to hire more registered nurses this year, the news provider reports.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, roughly three of five registered nurse jobs are situated at hospitals and the profession encompasses the largest job in the healthcare industry.
