Wyoming woman pleased about changing career goal to nursing

A Wyoming woman redirected her career aspirations a few years ago to pursue a nursing job, a decision she is glad she made, The Casper Star-Tribune reports.

Ashley Woolworth's original career goal was teaching, but when she was searching for gainful employment in 2008 she found minimal opportunity open to her. Realizing she enjoyed being of assistance to people, she adjusted her objective to nursing. At age 23, she is a student in the nursing program at Casper College and most likely is en route to a job since the vast majority of students who fulfill requirements typically find jobs in the field, figures maintained by the school indicate.

"People are always going to get sick," Woolworth told the news source last week. "People are always going to need someone to take care of them. So I knew it was a very secure job."

The state is likely to see demand for healthcare workers increase during the next 10 years while its population grows older.

Employment opportunities for those with RN jobs are expected to grow about 22 percent in the 10-year period ending 2018, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
