Did you know that Aureus Medical can place physical and occupational therapy students in both travel and direct hire (full-time) jobs right out of college? Educating student therapists and new graduates on where the jobs are is a key strategic approach that our Rehab Therapy division is taking on.
As a Student Outreach Coordinator, I will work with these students to help them better understand the job market and job search process while also introducing them to employers looking for great therapists. By keeping the students’ best interests at heart, my goal is to work hand-in-hand with each one and help them navigate what often can be an overwhelming time period for them. This new endeavor means serving as a reliable resource for students and new graduates with questions about the job market.
Currently, we are seeing a high demand for therapists and a low supply to meet those needs. However, don’t mistake this statement as to say that therapists can pick and choose where they land… an increasing number of the metro areas in certain regions are starting to see a saturation of therapists while the more rural areas continue to struggle. For Aureus to be able to support the students in their job search, it means we must provide them with more options to find great opportunities to hone their skills in settings they want to be in and better yet, will pay them top dollar to do it. By being their partner in the job search, we will help them find great positions at facilities that truly need them while also providing the newer graduates a place to learn and grow.
Periodically, I will post jobs to Facebook and LinkedIn to keep students informed. I will also post any visits to career fairs and conferences so that we can get together and chat face-to-face. Sun Hui (Sunny) Snook graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Truman State University and received a Master’s in Human Services from Bellevue University. She has been in the healthcare staffing field for 11 years, first working with nurses before moving to a nationwide work strategies consultant where her key responsibilities were to coach staffers and hospital managers on effective staffing. In 2009, Sunny started with Aureus Medical as an Account Manager in the Rehab Therapy division, working with both clients and prospective employees. Most recently, she moved to Student Outreach Coordinator. Prior to working in healthcare staffing, she served as an addictions therapist and residential treatment coordinator for five years.
