Employment Questions

What advantages does Aureus have over other staffing firms?
We've been helping professionals with their career needs since 1969. With over 32 years of experience and all of the contacts, networks and knowledge that goes with it, we have unique advantages that smaller, younger firms don’t offer. When you partner with Aureus Medical you can rest assured, knowing the nation’s leading healthcare staffing firm is working for you.

What areas of the country do you specialize in?
With our nationwide contacts, we offer travel nursing, medical imaging, therapy and radiology technologist assignments throughout the United States. We are registered to do business in 50 states and the District of Columbia! Whether you prefer warm weather resort areas such as Orlando or Phoenix … the excitement of the urban areas on east or west coasts … the Rocky Mountains … or the more relaxed style of a smaller community, we’ll locate the right job for you.

What is the average length of travel assignments?
Lengths may vary from one month to a year, but our typical travel assignment is for 13 weeks.

Is it possible to stay longer than the initial assignment?
Yes. Many of our travel nurse, therapy and medical imaging associates do just that. If you are on assignment and that type of opportunity arises, just contact your personal Aureus Medical Staff Supervisor.

How can I be sure that there will always be assignments available?
You probably already know that most medical fields are in the middle of a worker shortage. It’s definitely an employee-driven market. With a little flexibility on your part, the pool of available jobs throughout the country is normally quite large. As the nation’s leader in healthcare staffing, you know you’ll have access to the widest range of assignments through Aureus Medical.

What happens if Aureus Medical does not currently have a request for the type of position I’m looking for?
This is one of the major benefits of using Aureus Medical. We work with the nation’s major hospitals and healthcare providers and have the contacts and experience to go out and locate specific jobs that smaller firms just don’t have the resources to find. So, while we have an extensive listing of travel nurse and imaging positions currently open, we will also work with you on any special job request you have.

How much money can I make?
Typically, our “traveling” healthcare associates find they can earn what would be considered a full year’s salary for their field in about eight months. Some of our associates opt to reward themselves with some well-deserved time off … others work throughout the year to maximize their incomes. It’s totally your choice.

How quickly can you locate a position for me?
We’ve done it in as little as a day. But more realistically, it depends on the geographic area you are requesting and the demand for your specialty. On average, it takes us from one to four weeks from your initial contact with us until you actually begin a job assignment. Some of our associates even reserve positions as much as 5-6 months in advance.

How many hours make up a standard workweek?
Most of the assignments from Aureus Medical are based on a 40-hour workweek.

What happens when my assignment is completed?
After you have completed your assignment, you may request to extend your stay, choose a new assignment elsewhere, seek a direct-hire position, return home or take time off. The option is yours. And of course, we will be happy to assist you in the transition.

Is there a fee for Aureus Medical’s services?
Candidates never pay a fee for our services.

Travel Questions
What type of housing will provided to me?
Aureus Medical has its own in-house division working with you to provide high-quality, private housing. Typically, you will have a one-bedroom apartment or “extended stay” corporate housing located in an area convenient to your assignment.

Everything is normally furnished, down to your towels and pots and pans. Our traveling associates tell us that one of the reasons they keep coming back to Aureus Medical is the quality lifestyle we help them enjoy while away from the job.

Your rent is provided for as part of the assignment, so there's no rent expense to worry about! Many of the housing providers we use have amenities such as health clubs, tennis courts, swimming pools and hot tubs. Of course, if you'd prefer, you can select your own housing using our generous housing allowance any way you like.

Will I have to share housing with anyone else?
No. Unlike many healthcare staffing firms, Aureus Medical never requires our associates to share housing.

Who makes the travel and housing arrangements?
We take care of it all. We have our own in-house department that works exclusively with our travel nurse, therapy and diagnostic imaging professionals to make sure all of their travel and housing needs are handled smoothly. All you need to do is show up, ready to work.

Can I travel with a friend or relative?
Of course! Traveling with another healthcare professional, spouse, or any close friend will allow you to share the experiences of a lifetime.

What if I have a problem with my job or housing while I am on assignment?
Help is just a phone call away. We are here 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. In case of emergency, we may be reached 24 hours a day.

What do I need to do to start working with Aureus Medical?
Just complete our on-line application or call us at 1 (800) 456-5857. Our staffing counselors will work with you to insure you are matched to assignments that will assist you in achieving your professional, career and lifestyle goals.

Questions For Physicians

I will finish my residency next year. When should I begin my search?
Although many of our clients have immediate needs, forming a relationship with your Search Consultant now will expedite the process when the time comes to make contact with potential employers. Use this time to allow your Search Consultant to get to know you and gain an understanding of your unique needs (practice type, desired locations, amenities, etc.).

Many physicians also sign contracts early in their residencies. A potential employer may consider offering you a stipend or pay for a portion of a fellowship. Beginning your search now may open the door to these opportunities.

How do I start the process?
Contact the Aureus Medical Physician Search Division by phone, email, or through our website and you will immediately be connected to one of our experienced Search Consultants. Your Search Consultant will first want to learn about you, your goals, and interests so as to provide you with the highest level of service possible. Then, all of the necessary information pertinent to your search will be collected and the process of matching you with opportunities we represent begins. Aureus Medical will handle all aspects of the search process from beginning to end, from CV and interview consultation to providing logistical support for your relocation.

How long will my search take?
The length of a physician search is dependent on a number of factors, including position availability, the demand for your practice area, and the requirements you have discussed with your Search Consultant. Certainly, the decision-making timetable of the healthcare organization is a significant factor. Fortunately, Aureus Medical is able to expedite the process for you due to our knowledge of the physician market, our nationwide network, and our experience in physician placement.
Once your Search Consultant has collected all of the necessary information from you, the search process will begin immediately.

Will a search affect my salary?
No. Our fees are paid for by the healthcare organization. There is no cost to you and a search will not affect your salary.

What is Aureus Medical’s confidentiality policy?
Your search is kept in the strictest of confidence and your CV is never sent to a healthcare organization without your approval. We understand the importance of protecting your anonymity.

How may I best involve my family in the search process?
Aureus Medical understands and respects the important role that a family may play in the decision making process. We encourage physicians to bring their family members with them on an onsite interview to learn about the community, it’s culture, school systems, religious organizations, arts, and recreational offerings. Typically, the healthcare organization will work with your Search Consultant in coordinating tours and visits. Your Search Consultant also will speak with your spouse to determine his or her individual needs or concerns.

Who covers the travel costs for my interviews and do I make my own arrangements?
Aureus Medical will handle all logistical arrangements with regards to your on site interview, including scheduling, transportation, and hotel accommodations. The cost associated with your visit is paid for by the potential employer. Your Search Consultant will work closely with you and the healthcare organization to fulfill special requests, such as a tour of the community and visits to schools, religious organizations, and local attractions. It’s important to us that you receive as much information as possible about both the practice and the community when making a decision about your future practice.

In what areas of the country do you focus?
Aureus Medical places physicians with healthcare organizations nationwide. Our extensive network ensures you have a broad range of choices with regards to locations.

How often will I speak with my Search Consultant?
Your Search Consultant will be in regular contact with you with regards to the status of your search. At Aureus Medical, we pride ourselves on the high level of personal service that we provide each physician that works with us.
