As a traveling healthcare professional, you will work with a variety of people at each location. Most of us spend more time with our coworkers than our own families. Because of this we must learn how to deal with coworkers in the appropriate manner. Getting along with coworkers is just as important as getting along with the boss. And because there are usually so many more coworkers than supervisors, it requires additional effort. However, it is usually just a matter of tolerance, respect, and courtesy. Below are some tips to help you get along better with your coworkers.

Don’t use coworkers as therapists.

If you borrow it, return it. If you borrow it more than twice, get your own.

If you have a problem with someone, talk to THEM about it, not everyone else in the office.

Focus on YOUR work, not what other people are doing. Supervising output is your boss’s job. The only exception is when someone else’s low productivity is affecting your own.

Understand the limits of your authority. Don’t overstep your boundaries.

These tips should help maximize our relationships at work and make it more enjoyable for everyone. Good relationships can make or break your assignment!

Aureus Medical is happy to announce the Employees of the Quarter for the Allied Health divisions. Employees are nominated by their Account Managers each quarter. The winners will then be included in the Employee of the Year nominations. Congratulations to all!

Bev B., Respiratory Therapist

Bev has been awarded the honor of Employee of the Quarter for the Cardiopulmonary Division of Aureus Medical Group. Since starting with Aureus in 2007, Bev has completed six assignments. She has been asked many times to extend, go full time, and come back for additional contracts. Bev has a very easy-going personality and is flexible, which makes her an ideal traveler. She even drove through a blizzard to get to her most recent assignment in Colorado on time. This is just one example of her dedication to her job. Bev’s word is as good as gold. She has a keen ability to fit into any environment, is extremely knowledgeable, and always goes above and beyond.

Tiffani T., Ultrasound Technologist

Tiffani has been awarded the honor of Employee of the Quarter for the Diagnostic Imaging Division of Aureus Medical Group. She has worked continuously for Aureus Radiology for almost four years. She is dedicated to the field of Sonography and always goes beyond the call of duty. Tiffani has a great personality, blends right into the facilities where she is assigned, and maintains a great relationship with her coworkers while there. She is always extended if the facility has the need. She also looks forward to using her skills and ability to teach other ultrasound teammates if asked while on assignment.

Daphne P., Medical Technologist

Daphne has been awarded the honor of Employee of the Quarter for the Medical Laboratory Division of Aureus Medical Group. She has worked for Aureus since August 2008. At her current assignment, she has been a trooper! Her Lab Manager was let go midway through her assignment so Daphne has been picking up much of the slack. Through all of this, she has never complained and is always friendly.

Kathleen W., Physical Therapist Assistant

Kathy has been awarded the honor of Employee of the Quarter for the Rehab Therapy Division of Aureus Medical Group. She has been a loyal Aureus employee since her first assignment in December 2006. She is currently on her 9th assignment with us, with the majority of her work being done in New Mexico. Kathy did complete an 11-month assignment in Virginia in 2008/2009. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to her patients shines through in her reviews. She has been called, “one of the most outstanding physical therapy assistants and travelers I’ve ever worked with.” Another manager has said that “She is one of the best travelers we’ve ever had. I wish she was a PT so she could do assessments because she’s that good!” As we search for Kathy’s next assignment we always know that she will be a great representative for Aureus. She is strong in her personal faith, cares greatly for her patients, and is the model for ethical performance. We hope to keep Kathy (and her dog, Spuds) on board for many more years.
