Final Thoughts on APTA CSM

This past week the Student Outreach Team here at Aureus Medical had the amazing opportunity to experience the APTA Combined Sections Meeting in beautiful San Diego, California. Madelyn, Sunny, Jennifer, and I could not wait to leave the 5 degree weather of Omaha, Nebraska for the warmth and sunshine of the west coast!

Each of us was excited to meet students, therapists, and professors from all over the country and talk about the opportunities we could present to them in the future. As a former business student, walking around from booth to booth at the convention center was interesting, fascinating, and at times, a bit confusing. I couldn’t believe how many different aspects to therapy there could actually be. It was easy to see how excited each of the vendors was to show off their products and the ways they were currently impacting the field. The TRX workout program, shoe insoles that massaged your feet, or even “fat head” stickers of different body parts all found a unique and meaningful place at the event.

I was so thankful to get the opportunity to speak with students and professionals from all over the country about an area of study that they were truly passionate about. It was interesting to hear stories about clinical rotations, why they chose to enter the field, or what their dream job would look like. We even went out on the town our final night, meeting students at San Diego hot spots. Late night pizza was the perfect way to end the night and our great week. Hopefully I will have a chance to build on those acquaintances and be a resource for any career needs that may come about in the future.

All in all, my first ever trip to California was certainly a great success. Thanks so much to everyone for stopping by our booth, and I look forward to seeing you all at conferences and career fairs in the future!
