Personal trainer partners incorporate physical therapy

Fifteen years after two personal trainers developed a friendship that turned into a partnership, they are priding themselves upon the additional services that their business offers, according to a published report.

Redefined Fitness, the firm co-owned by Eric Smoot Hemphill and Silviu Gansca in Northeast Illinois, also has physical therapy services, Wilmette Life reports. They say those two disciplines combined do their parts to help preserve people's health and safety.

"People tell us their goals," Hemphill told the news source, noting he has been a personal trainer since the mid-1990s. The exercise science degree helps him fulfill one of the business' physical therapy jobs. "They want to lose weight, have better abs, better biceps. We listen and we give them what they want, but we also give them what they need, a thorough assessment of their body."

He emphasized the importance of familiarizing himself with clients' limitations, joint issues, injury history and other factors that impact their physical fitness.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, physical therapists must be licensed in all states where they operate.
