Keeping Current on Your Records

Whether you’re a first time traveler or an experienced traveler it’s very beneficial to stay organized. The best way to stay organized is to keep files or folders with you on assignments of all your medical records and certifications. Keep your work history updated with the dates and names of past managers for references.

The process for hospitals to get approval to use travelers has become more difficult and time consuming for managers. By the time the approval has been granted the facility needs the traveler to start ASAP. The amount of forms and medical records required for travelers to be cleared to start has also increased so the more medical records you have, the more beneficial it is for you and will get you started at your assignment sooner.  With your records on hand, your Account Manager will need to only get a drug screen and background check to get you started.

Another issue we’ve seen recently has been keeping certifications up to date.  Depending on your specialty, many hospitals are now requiring NRP, PALS, ACLS, and CPR cards to work in their hospital. It’s a great idea to keep those updated so you aren’t passed over by another traveler with similar skills.

We all know being a first time traveler or going from one assignment to the next can be very stressful, but to keep your medical records and certifications updated and within arm’s reach will make the whole process less stressful and more enjoyable.
