Nursing tops this year’s best jobs, publication states

Nursing jobs, the professional career that allows caregivers to fulfill an array of tasks and responsibilities to help their fellow human beings enhance their personal health during times of need, is this year's best job, according to U.S. News & World Report.

As many as 712,000 new nursing jobs will be created this year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The profession's annual salary ranges from $44,000 to $95,000.

Three tips to best secure gainful employment as a nurse include focusing on a specialty early on, capitalizing on networking tools and considering opportunities away from hospitals.

"Actually its growth rate is good, but not out of line with some other occupations," economist Michael Wolf with the federal agency told the news source. "Registered nurses should grow by about 26 percent. The healthcare practitioner occupations as a whole have a growth rate of about 26 percent, though."

Healthcare jobs' largest segment is fulfilled by nurses, whose numbers are as high as 2.6 million, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
